I could make a long list of guys from the last class who fans said would start immediately. On DL, it just doesn't usually happen and if it does, it's not always a good thing.

Was Gervon at the game? Does anyone have pics of the recruits in the stands, please post them if you have them.

He was. My son and another teammate were with him.
When Perine scores, you can seenthe three of them jump up in the first row of recruits

Ideally most all Freshmen would play parts of 4 Games and Redshirt. ;)

Watched and evaluated Friday night. Unbelievable physical specimen and ridiculously athletic. Extremely fast. I’d guess he’s easily 285-290 now. After a year will start for two and then leave.

I see him getting 15 snaps a game possibly. May slide him outside for 5-10 snaps.

Concliffe, Campbell, Carter, Slaton will form a serious first 4.

Btw little blue lW shocked that wasn’t a 40 point victory the other night. Team they played will finish 6-4 or 5-5. Sound defensively to an extent. Two of their wins have come on interceptions. I know LW wasn’t hitting on all cylinders.

You know there are exceptions. Bogle is playing this year and I could see Dexter getting some reps first year. That said, you don't really want Freshmen as your starters on the line.

Looking at participation chart, Diabate, Elam, Hill, Tarquin, Zipperer, and Bogle played in Auburn game, all burned their red-shirts?

yep it doesn't happen. Not to go back too far but since 2010, we've had top DL come to UF and get snaps but none of them started as true Freshmen:

    Easily
    Floyd
    Powell
    Bullard
    Fowler
    Slaton
    Brantley
    Willis
    Holley

That's a good list of some really good players. Some who are or did play NFL. I was thinking back to last cycle when some posters said Nate Pickering would be a day one starter. He has played in one game thus far at MSU. I could name others but you get the point. You ideally recruit DL and OL a year or 2 out from when you expect them to contribute.

Right and especially at a position at DT. Now when it comes to DE, they CAN come a long a bit quicker than a DT but a lot of times early on their just pass rush specialist

His one tackle this season was a sack for 7 yards against Auburn.

Agree you don’t want to see a freshman playing DT but looking at 2020 DTs barring transfers:
    1. Campbell - may go pro after this his fourth year
    2. Slaton - playing well lately by most accounts
    3. Conliffe - coming off a season ending injury
    4. Dunlap - plays sparingly
I could very well see a freshman like Dexter seeing significant minutes next year.
I think z. carter stays at SDE bc we’re extremely thin there.

As per FloridaGators.com, so far Zipperer, Diabate, Bogle, Elam and Hill have played in more than 5 games and thus are not redshirting. Tarquin and Kimbrough have played in 3. All other freshmen have played in 2 or less games and will probably redshirt. Tarquin and Kimbrough are the 2 to watch going forward. My guess Tarquin plays in 5 or more and does not redshirt. Kimbrough could go either way. If we get more DB injuries then he plays but I believe the staff would hope to keep his redshirt.

You have to factor in Jalen Humphries as well. Dunlap plays sparingly but he DOES play and actually is somewhat effective at times. I just don't expect Gervon to be 2nd on the depth chart at the start of the season next year. I think we have enough talent to ease him into the fold. Also, I don't think for a second that Campbell goes pro.

This is great stuff...looking at who we lose after this season and where we'll need help it's at DE and DB. We have so much depth at WR right now that it doesn't make sense to play any of the Freshman WRs much, but that's going to be a need next year as well (unless both Grimes and Toney return).

Toney ain’t leaving unless it’s for something unrelated to football. Can’t see Grimes getting drafted at this time either. Has he even had 10 catches this year?

Right if Toney or Grimes leaves, it'll be leaving for the XFL. They aren't close to being draft ready or to even make an NFL squad.

Has there been an update on Humphries? I thought I read he wasn't practicing in camp or had some issues. I don't expect anything from him this year, but is he at least with the team?

Pretty sure have seen him dressed out (#66) on the sideline, not playing. if that's the case, he should be practicing. Wide body, not real tall.
