Gemany: 7-day moving average of cases is 678 with a 7-day moving average of 3 deaths. Their GDP fell by 10.1% *edit: annualized to 34.7%*.
US: 7-day moving average of cases is 63,792 with a 7-day moving average of 1,129 deaths. The US' GDP fell by 32.9%.

Yeah, I would rather be in their situation than our situation, despite what a group of far right, Neo-Nazis, and anti-vaccine groups want. How about you?

I guess those Germans want their country to be just like the US. For comparison.

Although both the US and Germany experienced a drop in GDP in the second quarter there was a difference.

Did demon sperm/alien DNA lady ever say whether children of such spawn more or less susceptible to COVID?

This can't be good. Historically when the Germans started marching it always turned out to be a bad thing.

She may have but the liberal media and Facebook are all conspiring to keep her Nobel Prize worthy ideas buried.

It doesn’t appear they annualized Germany’s second quarter numbers like they did with the US numbers. US dropped 9.5% in the second quarter. It’ll be interesting to see what happens going forward since the US is at 50% while most of Europe (not sure on Germany) is 95% closed. Germany’s annualized numbers were worse than the US’s.

That is a fair point. Their decline annualized would be 34.7% decrease compared to our 32.9% decrease, so they are pretty similar.

Of course, their per capita death rate is less than 1/4 of our per capita death rate. A gap that is widening. So it still seems like that would be the preferred response to me...

Good catch, it was an unfair comparison.

The pandemic response is going to be best judged after the fact. If one country decides to push through it and saves the economy, they would be unfairly judged at this point.

But Germany has been an outlier compared to almost every country.

In what way are they an outlier? They have been generally successful at limiting cases and deaths, although no more so than a number of other countries, including Greece, Australia, South Korea, Japan,

I don’t know about Nazis, but that mindset is demonstrated by some on this thread. Though thankfully a minority, they are the anarchists in the true sense of that word.
Having said that, I recognize there are real competing interests here, and that any decision made will adversely impact many, and has already. Civilization is fragile, and pandemics test them.

That 32.9% is on an annualized basis. The actual 2nd quarter drop was 8.2%. I am no Trump fan, but at least, be factual. CNN had the annualized figure in the 5th paragraph.
