Gators Welcome Midshipmen to Gainesville for Midweek Tilt
Florida and Navy will be meeting for the first time.
    By Dustin Ciraco UF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Playing at home for the first time in nearly two weeks, the No. 6 University of Florida lacrosse team (4-2) is set to host the No. 10 Navy Midshipmen (5-1) on Tuesday afternoon. This contest will mark UF's sixth outing against a ranked opponent out of seven games thus far in 2018.

The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. from Donald R. Dizney Stadium. A live stream of the game will be available via YouTube, with Ryan Urquhart and former Gator lacrosse alumnus Annabeth Collins on the call.

The No. 10 Midshipmen are the sixth of nine IWLCA top-25 opponents for the Gators this season. UF has already challenged No. 17 Colorado, No. 1 Maryland, No. 23 Loyola, No. 3 North Carolina, and No. 8 Syracuse; with No. 10 Navy, No. 14 Towson, No. 25 Georgetown, and No. 22 Denver still left on the schedule. The Gators are 3-2 against ranked opponents in 2018.

Uf was down something like 10-2, tied now at 16

This squad really has some great stretches and really bad sequences

I actually am going to go glass half full.
Bad starts are definitely a problem, but the fight they have shown today against a top 10 team, against Loyola, and even in the comeback against Syracuse shows a fight in this team we haven’t seen from many of O Leary’s teams.
    Really good to see.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Facing a 10-2 deficit just 19 minutes into Tuesday's game against No. 10 Navy (5-2), the University of Florida lacrosse team (5-2) mounted a furious comeback against the Midshipmen, claiming a 19-16 victory at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

The Gators outscored Navy 17-6 over the final 37 minutes of the game, including a 4-0 run by Shannon Kavanagh alone over the contest's final 11 minutes. Kavanagh's run tied the game with 10:56 remaining, gave UF its first lead at 6:05, and ultimately built a three-goal cushion to ice victory.

Florida either trailed or faced a tied score for the first 53:56 minutes of Tuesday's tilt. The eight-goal margin overcome by the Gators was the largest in program history.
