Gators take the 5th set 15-13 to win the match. UF is 53-0 vs MSU. @apkgator did you watch this-I have no words to explain.
happy for the win, any port in a storm and all. But… Up 10-4 in the fifth and had to hold on for dear life. Up two sets to none and cruising, and then get dominated by a team that has a fraction of the talent we do. At home no less. This team has cracks I’ve never seen before in a Wise team, and in a year where we should be competing for a title. It’s as inexplicable as it is frustrating. And they may very well beat us tomorrow if the teams from the last three sets show up.
Wow, didn't watch but that's a shocking score, esp after the first 2 sets. MSU is not a top tier team.
Agreed something is missing with this team, it is not the talent. Chemistry maybe? Just do not seem fluid, I am no expert on Volleyball, I just know what I have seen in the past compared to this group.
I believe Thayer is playing through an injury and with Forte out too much dependence on the freshman. I believe we will get it together. Sophia and Beeson will both be stars.
After watching the match, I have to agree with the announcers (who for the most part were boring, repetitive, and very hard to listen to) when they faulted our serve receive and passing. It was so poor that it caused our setter problems and made our attacks very difficult. As a result, we had a poor hitting percentage. In my opinion, the late transfer of two of our defensive specialists (Cerame and Fischer) put us in a real bind. Our attackers are spending a lot of time in the back row receiving serves. I don't know why two of our top defensive specialists transferred but it appears to be a problem for the team.
Our two attackers (Hall and Caesar) are 6 rotation players and have always played front and back row. However, last night they were specifically serving at Caesar. The reason that is done is to slow down her offensive game. That strategy worked very well last night, unfortunately. Fischer and Cerame were never full time defensive specialists but were brought in to serve primarily, then taken out after their serves.
