We were going to have one more tough game even with Scottie. Without him, someone or more than one someone is going to have to step up. The first one that comes to mind is Locke.
Damn. I'd say bring in Jitoboh to rough them up. Use all of his 5 fouls if needs to. No more being pushed around by more physical teams.
We were only going to make this a game with a healthy KJ and Scottie. We need something like a Miracle on Ice to pull off a W.
Unfortunately I'd be surprised if we only lose by single digits, yet alone win. Would have to shoot lights out just to have a chance. I understand we lost KJ and Lewis for this game, but the Gators remaining bench (w/out KJ & Lewis) imo is not really SEC caliber outside of a couple of players.
I would still play at fast as possible early, press, go as deep as possible early with the bench, and try to get a lead early. What do we have to lose by playing up tempo? Slowing the game down and scoring barely 60 points gives us a 1% chance of winning.
And what, complain we can’t hold a lead? That we “took our foot of the pedal too soon.” It’s a 40 minute game with runs on both sides. Play defense better than them, rebound better than them, shoot better than them. Doesn’t matter when, just that we do it better and longer than them
Slow your roll, I think he’s just saying it’s important we come out with energy, press early to get the juices going right away. Yes, teams should ALWAYS play with energy. But when you are shorthanded, if you start off flat against a really good team - you probably aren’t coming back. Game could be over in 10 minutes. Ultimately he’s just stating the obvious.
You missed my point. If we play slow the entire game we have no chance to win. I wouldn’t play slow intentionally just because of the missing players. You still give yourself the best chance to win if you play to your strength, which is fast paced play, even if you can’t maintain it for 40 minutes (which we clearly can’t, or won’t).
