This team is awful. We probably won't even make a regional.

Only 4 teams shot over par today, UF was 7 over. Going to be more than 30 strokes off the lead.

Gators Close Out Day Two of Southern Highlands
    Lucy BerresUF
The Florida Gators men's golf team will be looking to improve their standings heading into the final day of the Southern Highlands Invitational Tuesday.
Round two proved to be another tough one for the Gators, as they finished the day in 14 th and unable to recover from early bogey trouble. Three birdies on the back nine from sophomore Chris Nido and two on the back nine from both senior Gordon Neale and John Axelsen allowed for a quick jump to the 12 spot.

Florida has one more round tomorrow to improve their standings and finish strong.

Gators Close Out Southern Highlands Invitational
    Lucy Berres
The Florida Gators men's golf team finished play at the Southern Highlands Invitational today with their best round of the tournament.
The Gators finished T12 on the leaderboard but the final day was the best day for multiple players in the lineup. Sophomore John Axelsen and freshman Manny Girona each tallied a one-under 71 in the final round, a tournament best for them both. Senior Gordon Neale also had a tournament-best round, getting an even-par 72 on the final day.
    Coach's Take
"Obviously a very disappointing event for our team, but there were some positives that came from it. We've got a lot of golf left this year and we've shown signs of being a solid golf team. We need to get back to doing what we do best and that's working hard and loving the game. I know our best golf is still ahead of us." –Head Coach JC Deacon
    On Girona's final round
"Manny Girona played a phenomenal round of golf today. His finish has me sick because this kid deserves better. He's done everything right all year and it's paying off. He's incredibly hard working and coachable. He's turning into a big time player for us." -Deacon

    Ain’t no sugarcoating 13th in a 15 team field.

Deacon hasn’t had a team finish above 15th at nationals in his time here, despite top 5 talent several of those years. And this team is the worst in his time here.
Not sure it has yet come to “the talk” with Stricklin, but it may not be far off.

Bad final hole for Manny: a 10! Ouch. Still finished under par, though.

Gators improved each round. That’s a plus/ positive.

Have a lot of kinks to work out.
