I’ve been twice myself. I was lucky enough to be there in 2017 to watch us win the college World Series.

Omaha was a very large city compared to what I thought I might be. People were wonderful and very knowledgeable about college baseball. Make no mistake though that LSU is their favorite team.

Myself and Terry Farmer pitched in the Valley League for the Harrisonburg Turks in 1973. They got us jobs with the City Maintenance-we changed traffic light bulbs out most of the time.

I was there in 17 also!!!

People are so kind in Omaha. City was very clean. Some of the nicest people throughout the entire town everywhere we went.

Yes and yes ! David played 3rd , switch hitter . We finished .500 both years I was there. I came in from a JC to UF.
Corbett could also swing the bat . He was the DH when not pitching. I think he was 12-2 his senior year. He was a year older than me and David.

Can’t recall his name to a face. We had a few guys out of Miami, and USCe but sad to say the names kinda fade. We did have a pitcher named Earl Bass out of USCe that played for Bobby Richardson.

I was at the game when Bowden threw the ball out of bounds on 4th down to stop the clock vs Ole Miss....was 8-9 yrs old and felt awful for him.
My grandad was old UF 2B, he would take me to baseball, I remember Corbett cause he was so good

@wingtee the description of local folks taking kids in made me flash back to Field of Dreams when Archie "Moonlight" Graham as a teen was describing baseball at the minor league level back then after being picked up as a hitchhiker.

One of the best scenes in the movie.

Doug Corbett is from Sarasota. My older sister dated his older brother. The older brother became a podiatrist, now retired.

He was definitely the real deal. We had some pretty good arms on that staff.

I do remember one thing Horns there was a time you were know “as Earl”
BUT YOU WERE A REAL EARL. I was on the other end of that shutout. 9 inn probably 145 pitches and expected the ball on the 4 th day
