Is well know that in the SEC games are won at the line of scrimage. If there is a 2020 college football season UF will loose Campbell. Slayton, Dunlop and could loose Carter and Conliffe, which means only Dexter, Goods and Humphries could be back for 2021 and the fact that there is only 2 commitments (Sapp and Thomas) who projects as DT at the next level from the 2021 class the Gators are in big time need at the position.

Thomas will be a good one. Sapp is a little undersized by about 25 lbs right now and good chance he won’t be in class. So.....here are the possible candidates.

    Langston-looking like LSU
    Leonard Taylor- looking like Miami
    Savion Collins- 50/50 UF/Miami
Desmond Watson-IMO most important get in this class as he’s our most viable option right now and he’s the only recruit of all candidates that can legitimately fill Slaton’s role. Everyone says all Gator but for some reason hasn’t committed. Gotta Get 3 in this class. Still seeing us taking transfer or JC kid for 21-22 to plug gaps. Dexter and one of the other young guys has to be ready. For Taylor and Watson they have to see immediate playing time in 21-22.

With a DL coach just winning an award for best in the business, having coached several of the highest paid and most successful DL in the pros, and an opportunity to play and improve against the best college players in the nation each week, how can you not want to play for the guy. If you are looking for the easy way out to not work out to Mac in weight room or practice facility or to play an easier/softer schedule, choose other conferences. However, you have to play the best to be the best and you have less chance of being in the pros if you take the easy way out.

Agreed, but he and Thomas are a great start… Thomas was and will be very important to this class. There’s a reason the staff offered him early and will be sticking with him. Thomas, Watson, and one more of Taylor, Collins or Langston would be a very good defensive tackle class. I’d say easily top 10 and possibly top 5.
I’d take Thomas, Watson, and Collins or Langston and call that a very very good DT class.

Elijah Conliffe will get a redshirt for 2019 so he has 2 years to play. Being a part-time starter in 2018, I still like him a lot if he is healthy. Anybody heard anything about his recovery?

Didn’t he already take a RS year? If so he’d need something to receive a medical RS, no?

Sounds great, really. But you have to ask, why have we been missing? Last year’s class would have been solid, a B+/A if an add-on to two previous classes of at least standard DL numbers and talent. But when you all but wiff two years in a row it is a deep hole. Imagine if staff had not inherited a deep DL roster. And the one player they took from state of Alabama 2019(?) was clearly overrated.

In the past year or two when I mentioned the seriousness of missing at DL I got the run down on roster and eligibility, ie “We are good”. No, we were not.

Don’t think we whiffed on DL last year. Two of the kids any program in the nation would have wanted in Dexter and Princely. Goods and Lee are good DT prospects. I thought that was a great DL class. Lost Brown to grades, but he had the most weight to gain to play in the trenches. Boone and Sapp look good this year, if we can hold on to them. We don’t have any DTs presently, so that is a concern, but a few kids out there that could really solidify that position when they finally verbal next month to a program. There is also the transfer route if needed. Cox will be eligible this year and One of Bam brothers (Conliffe) that was injured last year is back after being out last year with an injury. We should have a good DT rotation this year with good depth and experience. If we get a rush from Cox, Moon, Carter and the true Sophs we should be in good shape. UGA solidified a weakness at QB by bringing in two transfers, so no reason we can’t.

Some will point to the Tim smith non flip as a "whiff" and i wont fault them for that but we did as good of a job in trying to get him to flip as we could. Can't ein them all but we have a good haul in the 2020 class anyways...well took a hit with Brown but w/e
