Huge game for the women tomorrow @ LSU. LSU, UT, and Florida are all in a three way tie for 2nd place in the SEC, behind South Carolina. A win won't be easy. They are expecting a full house, on a 5 game winning spree, and we barely beat them at home. Tough game, but also a winnable one. We have the talent, and perhaps most importantly we have more depth. What's everyone predicting? I think the crowd could actually give us a little energy as well. They have been making a statement all season, but this would be the exclamation point! I think we really push the tempo and our depth shows up big... Gators 83 - Tigers 74
I am going with the Gators. They have been a hot team and I think they will want it more to prove they belong. Plus I am a homer and always pick the Gators.
I am being a homer too... but I really do think we have a great chance. If we handle the crowd energy, we will be fine. LSU plays 8 girls almost all the time. We play 11-12. Weather the storm early, and I think we can wear them down.
Kim Mulkey was really pushing for the fans to sellout their stadium, so they will have to hang tough against a huge crowd.
This is fun to watch. Alas has a feeling where we'll always be chipping away. Maybe someone will get hot from 3, or we get one of their bigs in foul trouble.
0 points for our post players... that needs to change. On the flip side, love the depth and the fact that we are up at the half. Hopefully we wear them down.
Watching that, I have no idea how we're ahead. It feels like we're playing mostly bad, struggling to run offense and struggling on the glass. LSU has just not shot well despite getting pretty good looks. I think we'll need to play much better in the 2nd half.
It is indeed fun to watch Rickards, smooth shooting stroke. Anybody think Zippy will actually do ok in the Kiki role next year? I think she's about the same for fast with the ball, almost there on contested layups at full speed, perhaps a little better on pull-up jumpers, maybe not as good on carving through traffic. Probably better on 3s. Not sure on defense.
Let's just hope she is for sure back... and if she is we can still add in another piece to make up for Kiki.
Win or lose... we have played well in a nationally televised game against a top team in front of a packed arena. Not a bad day.
Down 4 going into the 4th.... is it time to shorten the rotation and let the starters close this out or keep on with the rotation. Curious to see how Kelly plays the 4th.
