Now go look at the guys Sieder brought to PSU and tell me we couldn’t have used/gotten a couple of them with him on staff.

Booting Seider is, without a doubt, the biggest misstep from Mullen thus far. It never made any sense, especially considering how inept Knox is on the trail.

Youre also forgetting how Seider had us dead even with Bama for Trey Sanders (well slightly behind em but that would have been a hard pull anyways) and basically HANDED us Bowman and Keyvone before he left for PSU and we fumbled that. Got us John Dunmore before he left and I'm sure Noah Cain woulda given us a look too had Sieder stayed.

It was a bad move to bring Knox and try and slide Seider to a position he NEVER coached. Funny is EVERYONE hated the move then and really hate it now.

Your assessment of the draft is a bit unfair. First, we had more taken in the front half of the draft than the back ...and second, these were mostly Mac players anyway. The 2 you could pen on Mullen went 2nd & 4th round. I don’t know how you could think we are not successful.

And to say our roster is down on talent & depth is just nuts. It may not be at a Bama, OSU, UGA level but it has been significantly upgraded since Mullen arrived. Just about every piece of data available to quantify that supports it.

It would of been nice to keep Hughes on the off field side to just for continuity.

Looking at this years draft, it’s not like dozens of schools are putting first rounders into the league. It’s actually pretty limited... Only 18 schools had a player chosen in the first round this year with UF being one of them.

since 2000, the schools with the most first round picks...

    • Ohio State: 31.
    • Alabama: 31.
    • Miami (FL): 30.
    • Florida State: 24.
    • USC: 22.
    • Florida: 19.
    • Georgia: 19.
    • Oklahoma: 16.

Miami and FSU have fallen off more than UF when it comes to more recent first rounders and I am sure Clemson has risen.

Since 2010, the most first round picks...

    1). Alabama 32
    2) Ohio State 18
    3) LSU 14
    4) Florida 14
    5) Clemson 13
    6) Georgia 11
    6) fsu 11
    8) Notre dame 9
    8) Texas a and M 9

Seems UF is doing just fine getting first rounders drafted. So that should be a SELLING point not a negative.

What i don't understand is how the press has let Mullen dance around the question when they have touched the question to Mullen.

It is. What baffles me is he spent time previously here working under arguably the greatest recruiter of all time (top 5 at the WORST) and didn't inherit that recruiting passion by proxy/association.

Lets be honest, no offense to AR, Jalen Jones, and Del Rio but they dont sniff a UF offer if Urban was here. Urban brought in Portis, Tebow, Cam, Brantley. Three 5*s and a 4* (Portis was the 98th overall prospect).

What about Tim Brewster? Almost everyone thought that was a huge upgrade in the recruiting department. Is he making headway outside of TE's? Or is he still not enough to take us to the next level?

Wasn't Russel going to be a safety too? Not that he recruited him but Damn our luck at that position. Almost as bad as QB from 2009 until now.

He can lead a horse to water but the position coach needs to get them to drink.

@okcgator @cubangator @graylon this is why we're saying we can't just sit with the same staff. UGA is killllling it

Pasted in from Wilfong article on recruiting:

Head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have finished in the top three in each of the last four cycles, including No. 1 in 2020 and 2018. While sitting at No. 17 in the rankings with just seven pledges, their average ranking per commit of 94.49 says this is tracking to be another elite class. Just looking at the five-stars alone, the Bulldogs could finish with the No. 1 overall recruit in defensive end Korey Foreman, the No. 2 offensive tackle Amarius Mims, the No. 1 cornerback Tony Grimes, the No. 1 safety James Williams, the No. 2 defensive tackle Maason Smith and the No. 2 outside linebacker Smael Mondon. Beyond those names, Georgia is near the top of the list for the Nos. 3 and 4 running backs in the land Donovan Edwards and LJ Johnson, they lead on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for receiver Deion Colzie, offensive guard Terrence Ferguson and edge rusher Dallas Turner, who are also 247Sports Composite Top 100 recruits. Tight end Brock Bowers, offensive guard Dylan Fairchild are a couple more high-ranking guys the Dawgs lead on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for. Coveted defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and linebacker Xavian Sorey are interested too.
