I know our resident righties like to keep up to date on gas prices but it’s been a while since they’ve started a thread. Probably too focused on Utah game - understandable.

U.S. gasoline prices fall to pre-Ukraine invasion levels

HOUSTON, Aug 30 (Reuters) - U.S. wholesale gasoline prices fell to their lowest levels since before Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Wednesday, suggesting motorists in the world's largest energy consumer will see lower pump prices in coming weeks.

U.S. gasoline futures fell as low as $2.5899 per gallon on Wednesday, the lowest since Feb. 18, just before Moscow invaded Ukraine, setting off a series of sanctions from the United States and its allies that boosted prices across the energy markets to multi-year highs.

Yep. I expect gas prices to be about 3.20 soon. The should also start falling at the end of summer drive season. Wholesale prices should be pretty close to 2 bucks a gallon soon if things play out like they traditionally have.

Wholesale gas prices in the mid 2.30s now according to CNBC. That translates to about 3 bucks a gallon at the pump.

In listening to some economic analysts on a webinar recently, here was their forecast on a few commodities:
    • Lumber - pricing declining over the next 3 years
    • Crude Oil - rise in short term (next 6 months), but then declining thereafter. Some of this is due to the US ceasing to tap in domestic reserves beginning in November.
    • Semiconductors - a rise in pricing in the next year, but then a decline thereafter due to a predicted increase in production.
    • Corn - a sharp increase in the next 6 months (~30%), but a predicted leveling off in year 2. Ukraine is responsible for 20-30% of world supply.
    • Natural Gas - a sharp short term increase (~24%) but then decreasing over the next 1-3 years.
    • Aluminum - a sharp increase over the next year (~40%). China and Russia are major exporters. This affects items such as cameras, cell phones, computers, copiers, canned goods, and vehicles.

Hearing oil and natural gas prices being high is good. It keeps the incentives on for drilling more. Living in Florida where my heat pump works to add heat to my house maybe 24 hours of the year I am okay with that.

Damn, that "I did that" sticker is now a campaign ad, chuds across America getting out their razor blades trying to peel them off
