Thanks. Was going to ask who we should be looking for. When does Perkins announce? I know everyone expects A&M to be who he announces to and hope to flip him during his visit, but is there any realistic chance he commits to us at the game?

I've heard that AM NIL deal for Denver Harris is 400k to sign plus 100k per year
    Walter Nolen 600k.
Hard to compete with that. Perkins might commit to us today just to up AM offer.

So, with NIL, are you just allowed to straight up pay players to play for signing at a university? I thought there was supposed to be some kind of discretion or separation.

Do you think NIL numbers like those will create a sense of disparity on the team and in the locker room? Some overhyped 5 star making 3/4 million and the unpaid 3 star backing him up making more plays. Do they adjust the NIL numbers based on performance? This smells like a doody on the carpet.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/06/15/nil-ncaa-paying-college-athletes/

Even reading this, it's as clear as mud to me. The university still seems like a broker for the arrangement at some level. There's so much money involved in this that there's a huge opening for corruption. People were giddy when NIL was enacted, so they were quick to crow about how it's not going to screw thing up. The proof of that takes time, and I think the day is still ahead when we find out all of the ways that NIL is ensuring that a few, select programs will always get the elite athletes and other schools will scramble for the rest.

And I guess, we are the university of Florida, and our alumni has some deep pockets who would love to finance some trophies. Do we get into the arms race?

Matthews isn't announcing today. He's pushed that back to February 2.

I tried watching, but the silliness of the UA chain and the “look at me” throne was just to much for me.
