Fourth-year junior forward Gorjok Gak was playing his best basketball as a Gator until suffering a shoulder injury during practice Tuesday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Center Gorjok Gak dislocated his right shoulder during practice this week and will be sidelined from the Florida basketball team indefinitely.

Gak, the 6-foot-11, 235-pound fourth-year junior from Australia, suffered the injury during Tuesday's live scrimmage. An MRI that night revealed the damage and, in turn, put a dent in the Gators' front-court depth by removing a player who'd battled back from a knee injury that cost him the entire 2018-19 season and put himself in position to contribute in '19-20.
"I feel horrible for him," UF coach Mike White said Thursday. "Gorjok was playing his basketball since he's been here."

Gak, who averaged 2.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 7.7 minutes in 44 games over his first two seasons, was selected to play for his native Australia in the 2017 World University Games in Taiwan, but while there began experience swelling in his knee. The issue became chronic and plagued Gak throughout his '17-18 sophomore season, often limiting him at practice. Gak underwent surgery after the season and his recovery went deep enough into the '18-19 campaign to keep him off the floor and qualified him for a medical redshirt season.

Exactly, lol, but it actually will be a good bet that we hear from Mike: “I think we’re looking at January, right, Duke?”

Here we go again w/ frontcourt depth. I feel for Gak but sometimes it's just not meant to be w/ certain players. At some point there are just too many missed practices and developmental time for a raw prospect like Gak to be a contributor.

Hope he hangs in there and keeps a good attitude. We will need him for that tourney push. He was playing much better according the coaching staff. Get well big guy! At the very least you will always be a Gator!

Unfortunately. When you are tall, bone strength just does not develop as well as it should. We then simply say the person if fragile. That may be Gak’s UF legacy.

Wish I had your optimism. After Egbunu and Johnson, I'm half empty on bigs with injuries.

Um, I wonder whether I can get a refund on my 40-0 shirt. Probably a 39-1 season...just not the last game loss.

Anyways, get well as soon as you can. We'll keep the light on.
