The wall is dead. If Trump couldn't get his own party to pass it, he's not getting the democrats to. I kind of wish it would have gotten started, though. "Tear down the wall" would have been a great campaign stop chant for 2020 ... that and "Lock him up".

They don’t need 60 votes and will not get 50 Republican votes or even a majority of the Republican votes in the House either. There would be no filibuster on an appropriations bill to keep the government open. This plays very well to a base of people who thinks that the government should be shutdown and others who think building an unnecessary wall (that is not suported on a bipartisan basis) is a good idea because it is in opposition to immigrants. Of course, Trump supporters.

Don't worry. Trump supporters have it covered:

Divisive politics is the best thing that ever happened to GoFundMe.

This is hilarious. Literally nobody in congress wants a part of this except the Freedom Caucus. One last cowardly act by Paul Ryan, they should have forced Trump's hand. He said he wanted to take the heat for funding the govt. So let him have it, send him the bipartisan bill.

Instead I'm sure what will happen is they will re-allocate something and call it "border security", Trump will declare victory even it still has nothing to do with whatever "Great Wall of Trump" he was pushing on his moronic base.

Up to $5 million, or about 0.1% of their goal. I have a feeling trying to use GoFundMe to fund a $5 billion goal suffers from people's inability to understand just how big a number 5,000,000,000 is. But if they manage it, that will be amazing.

In Trumps deranged mind "shutting down the government" is probably a ploy to stop the Mueller investigation.

Only Trump could bring the sides together like that. He’s not the hero we need, he’s the hero we deserve.

Here we are 10 days into the campaign, and the current total is $17,564,909. Let's call that $18 million to make the math easier. At this rate, and ignoring that that rate is slowing, this campaign to self fund the wall is bringing in $1.8 million day.

    5,000,000,000 / 1,800,000 = 2778 days
    2778 / 365 = 7.61 years

If this pace keeps up, they'll have raised their $5 billion in 7.61 years. But as mentioned, the pace is slowing - the first few days it was bringing in about $4 million a day. We'll need to check back in at about a month to see how it's going, but I have a feeling the $1 billion goal limit by GoFundMe is not going to be achieved anytime soon, much less the $5 billion goal.

I make no promises about the math.

I don't think you can even donate money to the government for a specific purpose, it goes into a general fund.
Hell, these people could be giving money to Planned Parenthood. That is awesome.
