The comment section is a hoot! I’m running out of popcorn.

“You're a clown for writing this article. I'm sure you'll get rave reviews calling an entire fan base and administration delusional for not accepting mediocrity.”

“Parker writes the same thing over and over again. Taggart was fired to soon and he was fired because he was black. FSU is the worse program in the history of football and all FSU fans, boosters, ect. are dumb and don't understand, like he does, how bad everything about FSU really is. What a joke.”

Wait... what? How are these two even remotely in the same coaching ball park? And they absolutely could have Deion if for some reason that was their choice

Pretty good summary. Looking for a home run coach from a hail mary hire. I think they've used up all their luck and are in for a long time in the pit. Paying the price for terrible management.

Hell I'm right there with them: I wish they would hire Deion! Imagine the first headline:

In the 18 completed seasons since then, the Noles have finished with five losses or more a total of seven times – damn near close to half of the time

I don't think price is going to be what costs FSU. I'm sure they are willing to pony up for the right guy. You have to these days and the cost to the UAA for a guy that loses and doesn't put fans in the seats far outweigh the salaries. The issue FSU is going to have (I believe) is that there administration set up is less than ideal. The top level coaches want certainty and organization at this level. They don't have either and the athletic director is only going to be there for another year is my understanding. What top level coach wants to step into that? Otherwise, the job is still plenty attractive - easy to recruit, history of winning, easy ACC outside of Clemson.

I wonder if they can mitigate some of that unknown by selling the new coach on having input on the next AD hire

I am surprised that period is worse for them than us, with them having 2 national championship winning coaches for most of that time, and us having Zook, Muschamp, and McElwain taking up most of that period. Perception is different than reality some times.

Well I'm not certain why I have been referenced for a misspelling on a random article on the Noles. But I am 100% certain that if I were going to play grammar police, I would get the correct usage of they're vs their in my post.

This is entirely correct. Very smart post.

There is no stability in the Administration at FSU. The President and AD are both short term, and the boosters are tapped out after paying all the buyouts for hiring and then firing Taggert (and paying for better facilities). Plus, they just fired a guy who came in from another Power 5 school after 21 games.

What coach is going to walk into that situation? Not an established guy. Heck - even an up-and-comer isn't going there without another big buyout to guarantee his job security.

The search firm, DHR, has identified a prospective candidate. The candidate is currently looking for a new opportunity, has experience coaching in the state of Florida, knows the ACC and will save F$U a few dollars (as they save to pay off the next buy out) by not even needing to change the name on the door.
