Even Fox News is starting to report the Truth about the Trump Administration destroying America, so you know it's bad. More than 1/2 of all US industries are shedding jobs. Tariffs and immigration policy are harming companies. Fewer hours worked. Graduates not finding jobs. Inflation jumping. Bad news all around.

A leading economist is warning that the U.S. economy is on the brink of recession after incoming economic data last week signaled labor market conditions are softening as inflation is rising, which could complicate the ability of the Federal Reserve to support the economy.

"Consumer spending has flatlined, construction and manufacturing are contracting, and employment is set to fall. And with inflation on the rise, it is tough for the Fed to come to the rescue," he wrote.

andi said the tariffs put in place by the Trump administration are having a greater impact on household budgets and corporate profits, while the immigration crackdown has hampered the labor market.

"It's no mystery why the economy is struggling; blame increasing U.S. tariffs and highly restrictive immigration policy. The tariffs are cutting increasingly deeply into the profits of American companies and the purchasing power of American households. Fewer immigrant workers means a smaller economy," Zandi explained.

The economy has been due a deep recession and the longer they prop this fake economy up, the worse it is going to be.

The fake economy around the data center processing power is going to make the dot com bubble look like a blip. Couple that with tariffs and all the crazy stuff they are doing, no telling how bad it will be. All the companies that are chatGPT wrappers valued at billions of dollars is going to bring the economy to its knees when they start defaulting on their tremendous debt.

Get yer story ready in advance, big fella. Awesome tariffs are on the way.

Must be because Biden shut down the economy in 2020 when the felon was still in office, right? :)

Circa 1970 my dad owned a house near the beach and supported a family of seven on a sales rep’s salary.

As of Jan 21 2025 you can’t do that anymore.

I often wonder now, outside of a major disruption, how many people in the middle class and lower would need to be experiencing recession like conditions before it actually started impacting the major indices. Not an economist - so it's just curious to me now given the concentration of wealth at the top 1% of the country.

In fairness it was liberal governors at the state level that shut the economy down for longer than needed in many cases (IMHO)....For better or worse. But it was the left that did it.

The reality is that there is relatively little difference between the two although occasionally Fox Business is actually objective while that's almost never the case with Fox News.

Some states fared better than others. What I recall is that the opening of the State had little correlation with the overall impact on populations — some places which were more open fared far worse than states that were restricted, and vice versa. In other words, it turned out to be a total crapshoot. But the governors—red and blue—had no ability to predict the future.

Where I disagree with your premise, however, is that you’re focused on just this Country. Much of the World was shut down, and outside of the US, people don’t care about blue vs red.

Well, this sucks. Why is Trump raising taxes (tariffs)? The prevailing sentiment is now 4 rate cuts. Up is down, right is left.

I think you may have misunderstood me. I was responding to a post basically blaming it on trump. When it was really Democratic governors that did the majority of the shutting down. I even said for better or worse as in I know in some cases it was necessary.

Fwiw I think Trump did a terrible job handling the pandemic.
