You can talk about diet and exercise until you’re blue in the face. 10% of diabetics actually do enough to help their numbers without meds. Most people want a pill rather adjust their diet or increase their activity, that take work.

    1. Exercise can be enjoyable. In fact Its important that it is. I enjoy every moment in the gym.

    2. Why do you assume that life would be less enjoyable without smoking and eating poorly? My wife got me into healthy eating years ago and I felt much better and enjoy trying new things. Sure a steak and burger still show up on my plate on occasion and a craft beer to wash it down as well. Its just not my daily lifestyle.

Truth is, I felt fine before changing. I had no idea that I could feel much better.

It's been probably 15 years now. I feel and look healthier at 50 than I did at 35. I was never overweight, but family history told me it was a matter of time. I've missed out on nothing and can still hang with my 12 year old budding hoops star. ;)

I dont want to be happy to scrape my way to 75. I want to sprint to 95.

There are a few who will abuse it but most won’t. I have read studies that the cost of emergency treatment is so much higher than preventive care that it would save money to have universal care. People would need to learn how to access care.

I hate the gym but I enjoy walking and kayaking. With my bad shoulder I haven’t been able to kayak but I walk close to 5 miles a day. Hopefully I can get on the water again soon.

No issues at all with this. Everyone has different ways they enjoy this life.

I just have issues with those that think they have a right to others and the services they might provide. Know that is not you.

My doctor advised me that a half hour of walking each day will reduce the chances of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Agreed, that is my typical experience. Go the conservative, PT and injection route first then ultimately surgery down the road if no improvement. The one time that didnt happen for me was back surgery which I still regret. Before any surgery I would recommend getting a second opinion.

According to the article, teaching future doctors to be caring to their patients is destructive.

It's not surprising. Because they would be teaching them how to better take care of patients of color. It's unsurprising that the network that platforms a white supremacist like Tucker Carlson is outraged over that.

That is an interesting interpretation of:

"The webpage for the admissions office displays a photo of masked students kneeling, holding up a fist, and displaying a poster that reads, "#WHITECOATSFORBLACKLIVES,"

    (no title)

It's a group all med students at any group can join. I'm a member of it, everyone in the field should be. Cultural education is important.

This article, and the group Do No Harm are nothingburgers.

Do you not have coverage for major expenses that require a hospital visit?

My shoulder is feeling so much better. I used my pole saw today and removed a couple of limbs. It didn’t hurt other than usual old man pains.
