Objectively speaking, that all happened after you mocked her post which wasnt even directed at you, but others talking about who they donated to. You go trolling and someone cant give it back to you?

 

You’ve got ample time on your hands, we all know that by now. Why don’t you objectively go back and review SB and OB past exchanges. Or would you rather just back your libbie buddies because it’s easier to be partisan and pompous.

Adding the caveat that I haven't read every post in this thread, my take on Sasse is that although he is politically conservative he will actually have the balls to stand up to Ron DeSantis and the Republican Party when it comes to issues involving academic freedom keeping in mind that he was one of the few Republicans in the Senate who stood up to Trump.

 

Hmmm, I guess I’m different than many on Too Hot who donated (donating $$$ to apparently just “give the middle finger to DeSantis”- file that under things you can’t make up) or did not donate because of your political beliefs. I donated yesterday not because of who the new President is or isn’t, but because I love the University of Florida and appreciate how they helped put me in a position where I can afford to help.

But I digress. Please continue with the amusing political back and forth on why you did or didn’t donate.

 

I love the university as well and as such it was my (very little) protest. I was glad to help support a program that needs it. That's it

One would think that the direction of the University of Florida might be an interesting subject. Instead some of you are just taking potshots at each other.
Let's cut that out, OK?

 

Whether or not the Democrats have the balls to stand up to DeSantis may be arguable. One phenomenon that is not arguable is that when DeSantis says "jump" to members of his own party their only response is "how high, sir?".

 

There are two people here who either need to put each other on ignore or get a room

 

Call me naive, I won’t think it an unfair take, but I’m hopeful for Sasse. He is quite obviously very intelligent and knows how to work social and political circles which is needed for a university president. I know his political career is polarizing but I actually think someone like him will be best positioned to navigate the Desantis administration.

 

Unfortunately, 1 month into his tenure it is difficult to discuss anything surrounding the new president. He has not been in office long enough to show us what "his" (DeSanti's) direction is for UF.

All we can discuss, over and over, are the dubious optics around his hiring. A secret selection directed staight from the governor's office and no other candidates??

Remember, if he were truly qualified for this position, which includes being a strong, independent advocate for the university student body, the governor would have never selected him in the first place. DeSantis has made it perfectly clear that he will not accept public challenges by anyone, nor anyone openly opposing his wishes. He especially his demonstrated he will not tolerate academics, who are more intellectually capable than himself, opposing him.

Thus, we get Sasse.
