Really? It took a pick 6 by EJ before Mullen opened the offense and changed the playcalling for AR to actually give him a shot. AR probably feels that he made a statement that the starting job should be his, and if Mullen is not listening, then he could be looking elsewhere.

 

Agreed. Two interceptions led to LSU possessions that started at the UF 21 and 28, i.e. inside FG range. So that's 6 more points to the offense that's non-debatable. The fact that LSU went on to score TDs on those two drives falls at least partly on the defense.

So the defense was responsible for giving up somewhere between 28 and 36 points today. Which is still quite bad, LSU hadn't scored more than 28 against any other P5 team this year.

To think he has not already looking elsewhere is naive. There is a good chance he has been contacted. As I said a few weeks ago, if I were Dabo, I 'd promised the moon to AR already.

To be honest, I couldn't find another coach in P5 level handles QB as bad as Dan. If someone can find one, let me know.

 

Yeah I get that, but does he have any reason to think he’s not the starter next game? If not, he shouldn’t be making a statement like this and I don’t understand why he would even be thinking it. If it were me after this game, I would be excited about my performance (minus the 2 dumb decisions that were intercepted) and excited that I might now be the starter in 2 weeks against UGA.

 

AR will stay. He just needs the starting QB job. And if Mullen doesn't hand that over... Houston, we have bigger problems then I thought.

AGREE! This season is obvious a rebuilding one. Start AR. Yes he's a freshman and will make some freshman mistakes (like today). To me Ar has way more potential upside long term and EJ is jus Meh. Take our lumps this year, start AR and BY GOD hire a DC who can read what is happening in the game and ADJUST.

 

The other guy threw two ints as well, so what’s your point. The question is does AR have any faith that Mullen will start him over EJ? He also could be thinking about the flirtation with Carson Beck that almost cost Mullen his commitment.

I can understand why AR said what he said. Mullen has an obsession with playing upperclassmen who have paid their dues. Malik Davis starts every game at RB even though Pierce has turned into arguably our best back in terms of running and pass catching.

 

Kirby Smart has a history of some pretty perplexing decisions at QB.

 

At this point we all think Dan has to start Anthony Richardson but there are many out there that they Dan is so stubborn that he will not get it. The only saving grace we might have is that Dan’s seat is getting warm and he has no chance at the NFL.
Dan is a guy that is all about practice. He is no Steve Spurrier. Spurrier knew the Game was what mattered and he knew what kids had it when the lights came on… If Wuerffel were on Mullen’s team Terry Dean would still be starting. Dan is a guy that is all about how things look… Case in point Phillipe looked great athletically and arm strength wise but Kyle was three times the quarterback he was and it took an injury to get Kyle a chance.

It's not the experienced target, it's the arm talent getting that experience the ball. Neither of the 2 we have, have Trask's arm talent.
