After 6 complete its 3-1 Reds. Reds now have 3 hits. Sproat’s day is done. In fairness to Brandon the first hit he gave up in the 6th with one out was a broken bat flare to shallow RF. 6 IP 3H 3R 3ER 4BB 7K *5 1/3 innings of no hits is the most by any Mets SP this season. Previous was 4 IP
Tough outing for Hurston tonight, it'll happen just one of those things you hate to see. Not bad for Singer, 0 runs for the Reds all night
From the Former Almost-Gator files... does anyone else remember Mason Denaburg? He was the #11 HS prospect (per PG: Mason Denaburg Class of 2018 - Player Profile | Perfect Game USA) back in 2018 and signed after the Nationals drafted him in Round 1. He's now out of baseball -- injuries, mostly -- and is a back-up punter and 3rd(ish)-string kicker for UCF.
Abner has his own thread but after him Dbacks put in Jake Woodford, announcers mentioned Tampa sure enough former commit drafted in 2015 from Plant. On his 4th club but still in the show so hey not bad. Jake Woodford - Wikipedia
Sproat was good through 4 but rough 5th inning and he took the loss, who knows not his fault Mets have been in the dumps.
Saw Pete Alonso and his wife had their first child in September. Announced it on Instagram yesterday. https://people.com/new-york-mets-pete-alonso-and-wife-haley-welcome-first-baby-11789545
Opted out of the last year of that 2 year Mets contract, I'm sure he'll be able to afford diapers wherever he ends up signing for a massive deal. Full credit to him taking that short term "prove it" deal and having a good season.
Indiana University Bloomington (Bloomington, IN) Baseball Players | Baseball-Reference.com (click the "To" column for both hitters and pitchers). Summary: 8 pitchers (only one of whom has both an ERA under 7 and 100 IP in MLB), a 1B/OF who cut demoted and eventually cut by the Pirates, and Kyle Schwarber.
Thanks, I don't doubt the info. Just never thought of them as a mlb training ground. Looked them up and 1 trip to the cws.
Only Gator former commit related but there was a rumor (since debunked) that the news Rays ownership made a really big offer to Kyle Tucker playing on his hometown instincts (for those unaware he's Preston's brother from Tampa). Not sure where said rumor started but would've been cool to see Kyle in his hometown.
