"Guests that shop, dine, or stay at ONE DAYTONA on Wednesday can bring their receipt to the ONE DAYTONA tent in Victory Circle between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. to redeem a dash pass that will provide premium parking inside Daytona International Speedway’s infield for the fireworks display."

Museum of Speed closed after years of showcasing classic cars
    By Lisa Maria Garza Sentinel
Mount Dora — Biplane models no longer hang from the ceiling of the Mount Dora Museum of Speed and a black 1963 Corvette Stingray Sport Coupe is covered by a tarp as owner Kerry Bogard works to pack up memorabilia he’s collected over 40 years.

Bogard, 75, opened the 7,000 square-foot museum in 2001 to offer visitors a “trip through the past … when times were kinder” by showcasing up to 30 classic cars and floor to ceiling displays that included original neon signs, mannequins dressed in period clothing from the 1930s through 1960s and a vintage 1940s Texaco gas station he constructed as a replica to the former site in Mount Dora.

But retirement beckoned, he said, so he closed the museum in May and sold the building, which is set to become a bicycle shop.

“The whole idea was a déjà vu trip,” Bogard said of opening the museum at 206 N. Highland St.

His “true love of cars” began as a child when his parents gave him model cars to build while he recovered from rheumatic fever, a disease that can affect the heart, joints, brain and skin.

Kurt Busch outduels little brother Kyle to win

By Gary B. Graves Associated Press
SPARTA, Ky. — Kurt Busch finally beat his little brother in a head-to-head NASCAR finish and took his new team to victory lane a week after they coughed away their first win.

The downside of Busch’s big win Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway?
Kyle Busch didn’t stick around to give his older brother a promised ride home.

“I was supposed to fly home with him and now I’m looking for a plane ride,” Kurt Busch laughed. “That’s Kyle. He won’t even wait.”

Kurt Busch certainly wanted to flaunt his trophy after beating his brother in a door-to-door overtime battle. Kurt Busch was the victor — the first time in three 1-2 finishes for the Busch Brothers that Kyle did not win — and earned a playoff spot with his first win for Chip Ganassi Racing.

At 87, legend takes run at new record
    By Christian Simmons Sentinel

Drag racer “Big Daddy” Don Garlits has set more than a few records throughout his decades-long racing career. The 87-year-old hopes that he can capture one more next week.

Garlits will be looking to break the 200 mph barrier in a battery-powered dragster on July 20 at Palm Beach International Raceway on its quarter-mile drag strip. He had previously made it to 200 mph in a Top Fuel dragster.

Highly recommend the Netflix series ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’. The behind the scenes stuff is fascinating. Still can’t believe Ocon doesn’t have a seat this season and the Carlos Slim weasel Perez does. It all about the $$$ you can bring with you in F1. See Stroll also.
