Florida Rolls to 57-55 Win Over Alabama
Delicia Washington’s jumper with 15 seconds wins it for women’s basketball.
UF Game Recap: Women's Basketball | Thursday, February 7, 2019 | Sam Stolte
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Delicia Washington's pull-up jumper with 15 seconds left proved to be the game-winning basket as the University of Florida women's basketball team battled to a 57-55 victory over visiting Alabama Thursday night at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

The Gators who trailed by as many as nine in the second half, outscored the Crimson Tide 20-14 in the fourth quarter to help them snap a five-game slide.

Funda Nakkasoglu's play was key in Florida's come-from-behind victory as the redshirt-senior poured in a game-high 20 points, including 13 in the second half. Nakkasoglu, registering a point total of at least 20 for the 10th time this season, knocked down four 3-pointers including a perfect 3-of-3 performance in the fourth quarter. The Australian scored 11 of Florida's 20 fourth quarter points.

FWIW I would never have written the headline above for this game, battled, clawed their way, toughed out all work but they did not roll. They got a win they needed to get and they got their sh*t together to preserve the lead with 7 seconds left. I can't confirm this but from what I saw I think Funda and Coach came up with the right formation to get Zada the ball on the inbounds play far from the Bama bench.

Yes, much better descriptors. They first hung tight. Then battled and seized the win.

I wonder if it’s just a play on the Bama “roll” tide mantra that prompted that headline?

hard to say, I may see Sam at practice this afternoon and I'll discuss it with him given the chance, he is at practice at least for a little whi;le most days I am there. The kids were drained after the buzzer but excited for a home win, Delicia was more than a little relieved after bouncing the ball out of bounds off her knee in the last minute...
