Night to remember for Florida gymnastics

Leading the way for the Gators was freshman sensation Trinity Thomas, who scored a personal-best 9.95 in winning the vault.
She also shared the titles on the balance beam with teammates Boren and Megan Skaggs, all with 9.925s, and on the floor exercise with Boren, with both earning a near-perfect 9.975.

Thomas and Boren were neck-and-neck all evening in the all-around competition, with Thomas finishing with a 39.750 and Boren with a 39.725, just .025 behind.
“I think starting on vault strong for the first time gave me the confidence to get through the rest of the meet,” Thomas said. “I felt like I did pretty well.”
Skaggs, competing in the all-around for the first time this season

Trinity Thomas is SEC Freshman of the Week
    Mary Howard
Trinity Thomas is the SEC Freshman of the Week after winning four event titles last Friday - all with collegiate-best marks.
With today's honor, Thomas becomes the first in league history to receive a league award after every competition. In addition to her six SEC Freshman of the Week awards, she's a three-time SEC Gymnast of the Week. The previous season record for SEC weekly honors is six, set by Gator Great Bridget Sloan in 2016 and equaled this season by LSU's Sarah Finnegan.

    Thomas' All-Around Win:
    • Won four event titles – all with collegiate-bests - in Florida's dual win versus No. 25 Penn State
    • Claimed her fifth all-around win at 39.75 – a collegiate-high and the nation's second-highest all-around total of the weekend. That total equals the nation's high by a freshman this season.
    • Shared the floor win with teammate Alicia Boren at a nearly-perfect 9.975. Seventh floor title of 2019 and fifth consecutive. Used a 9.975 to take four of last five floor wins.
    • Set collegiate-best to win vault at 9.95. It was her second vault win of season.
    • Shared the balance beam win at 9.925 with teammates Alicia Boren and Megan Skaggs. Equaled her collegiate-best for third time this season and this is second beam win
    • In latest national rankings: No. 2 on floor; No. T2 in all-around and uneven bars; No. 12 in balance beam
    • Leads Florida with 21 event titles
