Day two brought more strong performances from the Gator Track and Field teams at the Florida Relays : Freshman Ryan Willie continues to impress in the 400 meters taking 2nd in 45.12, this is the 4th fastest in the country; the ones ranked higher are all upper class and all have run under 45 seconds. Joe Fahnbulleh won the 100 in 10.23, slower than his best, but Percy Beard is not known as a particularly fast track. Raymond Ekevwo was scheduled to run in the 200 but did not compete. The 4x100 men’s team ran a very strong 38.89 which is currently 5th in the country, but it was without Ekevwo. Clayton Brown had another strong performance in the TJ with a leap of 53’ 10.75”. Marshall Dillon had a nation leading time of 8:22.30 in the 3000 meters, unfortunately not a championship event at the NCAA outdoors. The women’s side was lead by Natricia Hooper’s 44’ 02” 1st place TJ. Claire Bryant was tied for second in the HJ with a 5’ 8.75” . Gabrielle Wilkinson won the 800 meters in 2:03.88. Talitha Diggs was 3rd in the 400 at 52.09 and Taylor Mason was 5th at 52.13. Vasileia Spyrou won the the 3000 meters in 9:31.67.
