I'm sorry to see Coach Johnson go but Mullen is the primary guy for the Gators when it comes to play calling and developing QBs. Eager to see who they hire who does need to be a great recruiter.

Maybe he just really wants to coach in the pros.

Yep, Mullen can handle QBs and calling plays. Get a guy that can recruit.

    Does Bell get his chance?

Welp. That makes our difficulties in recruiting south Florida that much more difficult. We need a major recruiter replacement at that position or not fill it and get a better recruiter at a different position.

I just don't see going from major college program OC and interviewing for HC jobs in college to being a position coach in the NFL. The great gulf in salaries that used to exist between college and NFL is not as much anymore. This just seems curious to me.

Jesus. If they are taking one of our coordinators we should require them to take the other as well. Who would have thought we would get what we want in a new coordinator except it’s going to be on offense and not defense.

Actually thought ucf would give him a look for their head coaching position. At least he’s not selling against us.

Would Tom Herman be a good candidate for the position?

I was thinking the exact same thing but didn’t wanna voice it in fear of being shouted down for being a negative nelly. It’s an odd move for just a qb coach opening , regardless whether it’s nfl or not

if he goes there and turns Hurts/Wentz around, teams will be beating down his door. It’s an easier path to being an NFL OC/HC than being a HC at a mid tier college program....especially as an AA

I hope we give Brian Johnson a look as head coach whenever Dan Mullen leaves for the NFL

Wish him the best. I see a pro job as a step up. The NFL is a copy cat league. College coaches will be in higher demand for pro jobs in the future. And at the rate coaches last in the NFL, Brian Johnson will be an OC for an NFL team within 2 years, a head coach in 5 if successful. No more recruiting, which is a pain in the ass. You can also thank the NCAA , the portal, free agency in college and all the other BS that makes college look like the NFL anyway for college coaches to grow more weary of the college game.
