To me this is sounding like the school district is telling him he can't officially say the Holocaust happened. I simply don't see the logic in that. You can't deny that it happened.

Should someone send him to the museum in DC? Or even have him watch some of the docs on Netflix? They are rather hard to watch but it would show him all the proof he needs.

Latson, in a statement to the Post, apologized, saying the views he expressed in his emails “did not accurately reflect my professional and personal commitment to educating all students about the atrocities of the Holocaust.”

Latson, who was reportedly not disciplined over his conduct, visited Washington’s U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in the summer following the email exchange so that he could learn more about the tragedy.

The way I read it, it seems like he was trying to be sensitive to people who might not believe it (rather than telling someone what he thought), but that's still, you know, stupid for someone in education to do. Like would any school let kids opt out of physics because they didn't believe in gravity? "Teach the controversy" crap is the worst kind of anti-intellectualism.

And we wonder why we have issues with our K-12 education. If learning is optional why is it mandatory that children attend school at all? My question - is Heather has two mommies or Jake has two daddies optional?

By civics I meant Social Studies.... Outside of Sacajawea, slavery and civil rights movement, no there isn't

asking for civics as in understanding government and how it works. that would be WAAAYYYYY too much to ask these days

He posted that "Two Mommies" is mandatory learning everywhere on penalty of going in the permanent file, so I'm gonna say no.
