The officiating was equally poor to Mike White’s coaching.
Yes there was bad calls but we were still good enough to overcome that if we hadn’t slowed it down in the last five minutes. ORU coach was smart and had his team foul Osifo to put him on the line in a close game knowing it would result in an empty possession for Florida. White lost this game by trying to use the clock far too early with such a small lead. We were scoring at a record percentage and he slows it down. Tell me where that makes sense?
That is a question coach should have to answer. His lack of situational awareness is astounding. Around 12 to go ORU had tired legs the shots were short 6 more minutes and we would have had a 20pt lead.
Timidness is never rewarded.
Its like a football team winning and leading time of possession then trying to run the clock out and punting for field position. It backfires every time.
Yes all of that is true...the officials were horrible and played a huge factor in the game but that doesn't mean that Coach White did not make some terrible coaching decisions that contributed to the loss as well.
than and insufficient support of Mike White
Worked like a charm!
Yeah Noah was 15 feet to his left wide open but that’s a tough situation Scottie faced.
The refs sucked but we were very passive. They were a better shooting team, but the type of game we played required us to outshoot them. We gave up the height/athletic advantage to enter a shooting contest against a team that was bound to outdo us there. That being said, foul differential must have been 10 points. The turnovers were another 10, and that’s purely on the coaches imo since it’s been an all year problem.
At the end of the day, it’s pretty pathetic to bitch about fouls when you just lost to a 15 seed - so we just have to own that they had more scorers, and our coaches were out schemed.
This just fits right into the pattern if you’ve been paying attention. Any time you want to feel slightly good about the program, we come right back out and lose. Happens every damned time. Literally every time for like 4 years now. I’d feel ok if I felt like we were building towards something, but I’m not sure that’s happening. A lot depends on the comings/going’s, but even if EVERYONE came back I’m not sure this thing is going anywhere.
Agreed. Anyone who makes $3 million a year to lose basketball games and not win championships while the rest of us likely will never see that $ amount in a lifetime with real jobs are allowed to question his coaching given the results (or lack thereof). The players get nothing while the NCAA makes money hand over fist and it's not their fault anyway...they have no coach to teach them.
Get White out of there. This program is going backwards with him. Too much undeveloped talent

There is only one reason that you see that. FT's. They got to the line triple our number and scored without FG's.
For those complaining about the FTs and calls by the refs, it is warranted to a point, but...of the 13-5 run OR went on to end the game, only 3 of those 13 points were from the FT line.
And while UF was up 76-75 with 3:19 to go, only 1 of OR's last 6 points were at the FT line. The other 5 points were a layup and 3 pointer.
Locke made a jumper at the 2:30 mark to put UF up 78-77 and UF never scored again. 2:30 without a single point. They hit a 3 the next possession and didn't have to score again.
when your FT% on the season is less than 50%, you need to sit in close games against smart teams
Its entry level analytics that if shorten the game (slow it down) it favors the underdog and the less deep team. That’s true in all sports. In basketball it’s grade A retarded to do it vs a great 3 pt and ft shooting team.
White folds his royal flush hand when Oral Roberts had two of kind. Shuts down the offense with 10:00 minutes left in the game. We got 8 EIGHT shots after the 10 minute mark in the game.
This year White gets a reprieve because of the COVID, Reeves coming in as one of the best freshmen in the country and Johnson's illness. Another one and done season like this next year and its Sayonara.
Glad I'm not the only one that has noticed that. It's ridiculous how they get hopes up just to knock them right back down.
What did he post right before that?
We see that too often though because we have players (not all the same) who lack awareness, focus, savy, etc.
