    Bottom of a pint glass
Apparently it is directly in Big Cypress National Preserve, which is part of the national park system. So yes.

Apparently, it is north of the park, not in the park.

Where is "Alligator Alcatraz"? Florida migrant camp rises on land once eyed for supersonic jetport - CBS Miami

According to the National Park Service, Florida officials in the 1960s proposed building a jetport in the area to support South Florida's booming population and their "futuristic aspirations of aircraft." The bold plan included advanced aircraft capable of carrying up to 1,000 passengers and flying coast-to-coast at supersonic speed.

But, aeronautical engineers understood that any aircraft capable of breaking the sound barrier over populated areas "would not be tolerated," even though supersonic airliners were considered to be "the way of the future," the NPS said.

As a result, the Dade County Port Authority purchased 39 square miles of remote swamp land just north of the Everglades National Park boundary – with plans to build the Everglades Jetport.

Seems this boondoggle like the also shut-down Cross Florida Barge Canal were created in a corrupt Fl. period of Fl governance that was thankfully aborted in the 70's when intelligent voters realized the damages to the environment.

What? I would be the one amused if an illegal immigrant, who was being housed in this area apparently full of alligators and snakes, were to be harmed by part of the snake they were forced to police?

As opposed to the caring Trump supporters, who gleefully suggested immigrants police the snakes and posted 'like' ratings on the suggestion?

Um, OK. Weird idea, but you are obviously allowed to have it.

It sure is weird that Trump supporters still forward, believe, and, well ..... even tolerate ...... some of these absurd lies that they tell back and forth to one another. I guess maybe they just like being lied to?

Based on the search results, the claim that the Biden administration housed illegal immigrants in "5-star hotels" and used FEMA disaster relief funds for this purpose is largely false and misleading.
Here's a breakdown of the facts:
    • FEMA funding: While FEMA has provided funding to New York City for costs associated with immigration, this funding comes from a program established by Congress through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection budget, and not from FEMA's Disaster Relief Fund. The Disaster Relief Fund is primarily used for natural disasters.
    • Hotel costs: New York City utilizes hotels to house migrants, but not "luxury" or "5-star" establishments. The average cost per night per hotel room in 2024 was $156, which is below the standard per diem rate set by the General Services Administration.
    • The program: The funding is part of a program designed to reimburse local governments and non-profit organizations for providing basic services to immigrants.
In summary, the Biden administration has authorized payments for housing migrants in hotels, but these are not luxury accommodations, and the funding is not sourced from FEMA's disaster relief funds.

When i stayed at the Roosevelt hotel it was at per diem although that was the government rate. Others paid more. Although a nice hotel, no way a 5-star. It was as “fancy” as a standard Marriott

    Exactly.

So I wonder why the Trump supporters keep circulating that long-debunked lie about "Biden using FEMA money on 5-star hotels"?

But the real question is why grown adults tolerate such a continuous firehose of outright lies from not just Trump, but the Trumpy media-ecosystem. You'd think these adults would insist on people being truthful ..... but I guess they just like being lied to. ;)

A 5 star rating also has to do with the level of service provided. That hotel maybe was 5 star 50 years ago (if it ever truly was). It became a mediocre hotel that my understanding is fell somewhat into disrepair over the years.

It actually shuttered completely due to COVID, so at that point it became “vacant building” or a 0 star hotel. Seems like a viable idea to repurpose vacant buildings whether hotel, hospital, or apartment. Better than condemning or letting it get taken over by crackheads. But similar to homeless shelters or drug rehabs there’s going to be a strong NIMBY effect, even people that like to see those services done don’t want it next door. Either way to call that a “5-star hotel” - like migrants/refugees were getting luxury spa treatments at the Ritz was a blatant lie that only rubes could have believed.

    Rodman?

Years ago, I caught a 38” red at the mouth of the canal south of Inglis. We could have loaded the boat that day as we found a school on a rock pile and they were feeding.

yep, I stayed there way before COVID. It could have been a 5 star a long time ago, but when I stayed there it was just a regular hotel.
