Very fair and accurate in your assessment. It’s not just the losses but:
    Who we are losing to
    How we are losing
Attitude after losing ( coach) and what is said.
    C- at best.

    In my head--- UF
Riley has earned every penny.PS he has an offensive coordinator

2021 USC lost to Cal, BYU, Arizona State, and 62-32 to UCLA

2022 USC is 10-1. Quite the turnaround. Beat UCLA .

On the cusp of a CFP playoff spot

This guy can flat out coach. I am glad with have CBN, but if UF would have thrown $13M at Riley, he is SOS 2.0.

I'll believe you when he wins a game of substance. Until then he's just the biggest fish in a small pond, now trying out a new small pond.

I think he's a good coach, but not one of the best.

    In my head--- UF
If you think coaching at Oklahoma was in a small pond I can’t talk with you. One of the most storied programs in all of college football bar none. 7 national championships, 50 conference championships, 7 heismans. One of CFP's true national brands.

    Riley:
3 appearances in the CFP 4.
    Heisman trophy winner
    Beat the gators
    Beat ohio state in OH

USC - another storied program - small pond? We will see since it’s likely in year one he has a storied school in the CFP.

2 of 3 teams in top 25 beaten. 4th top 25 team up next.

    He’s a winner, a star, and a top 5 coach…and under 45.

He's the hire Uf should have made. I'm happy = very happy with CBN

ESPN Playoff Top 25 is not exactly doing us any favors with all of these new coaches seemingly crushing their seasons.

Ok. I think he's a good coach. Any good coach would do very well following Bob Stoops. 0-3 in cfp appearances. Heisman trophy winner Baker Mayfield was a senior the year Riley took over. I don't think anyone would call UF without it's entire offense that year a good team.

He did beat Ohio State once though.

Again, he's a good coach. I haven't seen him do anything great yet on his own merit. Oklahoma slightly regressed in end of year ranking and recruiting ranking every year of his tenure.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong but when it happens it will be the first thing he's done not using Stoops team.

Who else in the big12 was good during his tenure? Texas?

Glad we have examples to point to as tired of hearing needs “ his kids” “needs time” or “it’s his first year”. Doesn’t have to take 3-4 years. Usually Coaches w that urgency/intensity gonna get it done sooner.

Understatement of the year here- This is a huge game for a Billy. Can’t remember the last Gator Coach that lost to all rivals and Vandy. Hope he’s got them ready. No moral victories here.

“Needs his own players” = Do bare minimum, get an extension with a large buyout, get fired, collect buyout, work for SEC network, go fishing

  12. Napier gets a C from me. I think he has the potential to earn an A in a few years, but based on what he has done this year he gets a C. If we had beaten Vanderbilt I would have given him a B-/ C+ for the improvement from second half of the aTm game and most of USCe game. The Vandy loss makes me furious given how much support I have given despite downvotes here and on Reddit, so he gets downgraded to D if the Gators lose to FSU.

Yes, but these are all weighted the same. Game management/decisions, of the four you listed, takes up a bigger piece of the pie and a C- appears to be accurate. I just dont know how high the grade can go given what we have seen or with some type of remediation.

It’s hard to find assistant coaches who are both good recruiters and good coaches.

One fear I’ve had since the beginning is Napier seems to have gone the recruiter route.

I guess he hopes the talent coming in will overcome the coaching mistakes.

Just watch how good these coaches are when the talent is there. Kirby isn’t a savant.

Agree that he's really good, but we're not paying someone 13 mill, sadly.

And I think he intentionally fled OU and the SEC because he thinks he can do better at USC.

    He might be right.

Exactly, we have talent but glaring holes in the roster and Napier had little time to figure what he had and need to fill. This off-season portal work will be crucial. We need several starters and two deep guys to have the parts to play.

Hope he gets some puppy love right off the bat if he gets in. Maybe they on Oregon and utahs level but they aren’t top 4

Long term, I think USC is a better place for him than being in the SEC. Our conference will be a murderers row (worse than it is now). At USC, he can recruit speed and outrun those slow Big 10 teams and get a spot in the playoffs.

Making the playoffs and winning is two different things. If you represent the sec, you have the inside track. Urbs got one by running from Saban but you still have to beat everyone.
