Congratulations the posters moving on to the finals are:
@g8rboy (with a nice come from behind today)
*** only in it for bragging rights, not eligible for prize.
I am putting a little twist into the finals, I will post it later this evening.
the twist better be to get me better scores, last 3 games lost points in each game.
Great job Oklahoma! All the work has really been appreciated and it was good to see so many participants.
Next up, the conclusion of the season and who wins out.
Thanks and I want to thank everyone who participated in it. Your input resulting in the modified scoring in the second half seemed much more realistic as to the overall player performance.
Yes great job Oklahoma! A lot of work went into this and has been a lot of fun, especially when my picks do well
Great context. Thanks!
Looking forward to the next round.
Thanks again Oklahoma for all your time behind the scenes. I'm surprised I made in it today with Blackshear getting hurt. Another example of how close the scoring ended up. Can't wait to see what twist you have in mind.
Why aren’t I in the finals? I am only 186 points out of the lead. I can easily make that up within the next 5 years, which is the same amount of time that we have given Mike White. You will be hearing from my lawyer, Wily Coyote, Esq. from the law firm of Dewey, Cheatem and Howe, LLP.
Top 10 both rounds for me, but close only counts in horseshoes and handgranades.
Damn ... I was top 5 for most of the 2nd half. But relied on a freshman at the end and it burned me. Definitely enjoyed participating regardless
Fun contest. Will this be an annual occurrence?
That depends on everyone I guess. I would say it took about 2 hours (not at one sit down, but over a day or so)per game to do all of the tracking, calculations and posting. I would need to figure out a way to make that easier.
I had a blast doing it.
Did you do your calculations using an excel spreadsheet? If not that should save a lot of time by simply plugging everything in.
Yes did an excel spread sheet that totaled the points for me and did a simple sort to get the rankings. Once I got it set up in the beginning it wasn't that hard. Just entering everyone picks, then calculating the contest points, entering the points then by each poster was a little time consuming. After that, the totals, sorting, and copying the info off was pretty quick.
I do pretty well with excel but probably will improve the sheet if we do it again next year to make it a little easier.
Sounds like you need to do one more formula of an "if/then" so you just enter who people pick and then it will auto fill their points on the backside. Such as "if D1=Egbunu then F1=points." Not sure if your dabbled in that type of excel nonsense, but if you decide to do this again next year I can help you set it up.
My guess is there is a website where you can just download the boxscore in an excel sheet and plug it in, so then really the only manual work would be entering who people picked.
I wonder if you set up each game as a pivot table to populate the first page and keep loading pivot tables to build on as the season goes. I've never created it myself but I've worked many a budget and forecasts all through pre-loaded pivot tables that can do some amazing things if it all flows right.
Appreciate the offer, if we do it again we can share spread sheets and get it figured out. I see what you are thinking about only entering the players points once and let the stats "autofill". Wish I would have thought of that sooner. I'll be in touch next time for sure.
