Again...why is this bad advice? He is the top ranked player at his position. If he played RB would you call it a bad choice? If he comes back and another kicker goes off next year , he loses money.

Kickers rarely get drafted highly. The money they make is moreso based on longevity in the league. He finished the year with some key misses. He would do better next year. Sounds like he hasn't graduated yet. Kickers don't get hurt very often with today's rules. Yes, if he were an RB, I would say go.

Shocking imo. Maybe he simply doesn't like school. Money would still be there next year.
Very good kicker, but #1?? Wasn't a finalist for the Groza award.

Good luck to him tho. Hope he gets picked by a team with a dome, so no elements to battle.

Ray Guy and sea bass are the only ones that come to mind that were both 1st round guys if I’m not mistaken. I said that he’d be the highest drafted kicker since Seabass but I thought it’d be next year

fwiw his brother is supposed to be a good kicker as well and isn’t far from college aged iirc

That’s what the minor league is for. Now he’s ready for his shot at the pros. College life comes in a distant second, it seems. He’ll do fine.

Evan might be the #1 kicker but only if you ignore the last half of the season. He started out hot then went cold after the Georgia game and fell to the middle of the pack. There are 3 other SEC kickers that finished the season stronger than Evan. If anything, I would have discussed it with him that finishing strong is more important than overall stats. The NFL will look at that and I wouldn't doubt other kickers will get picked before him.

He won the Ray Guy award, got to the NFL, got the yips and doesn't even play any more.
Our kicker was better that year anyway.

I was just answering the question, I dont think any kicker is good enough to be higher than 4th or 5th round pick.

Sebastian Janikowski was selected 17th overall by the Raiders. Interestingly the only punter drafted in the first round, Ray Guy was also drafted by the Raiders. Guy also played safety in college although he was drafted strictly as a punter. Roberto Aguayo was drafted in the second round by the Bucs and turned out to be a dud. In today's NFL it's extremely unlikely that any kicker will be drafted earlier than the 4th round and even that he would be high.
