The EU and Mexico criticise Donald Trump for proposed 30% tariff - BBC News

The European Union (EU) and Mexico have expressed disappointment at US President Donald Trump's threat to impose 30% tariffs on their imports from 1 August.

Mexico criticised what it called Trump's "unfair deal" and insisted its sovereignty is non-negotiable, while the EU's chief, Ursula von der Leyen threatened to take "proportionate countermeasures", if needed. Both said they want to keep negotiating with the US.

Trump has warned he would impose even higher import taxes if either of the US trading partners decided to retaliate.

How long do you think it's going to be before Trump delays implementation of the tariffs or significantly reduces them or both? Also keep in mind that during his first Administration Trump negotiated the USMCA which described as one of the greatest trade agreements in history. Now Trump 47 is tearing up the agreement negotiated by Trump 45.

Exactly. Value added taxes, sales taxes and tariffs all have one characteristic in common. They're regressive taxes paid by consumers. Donald Trump is the reverse Robin Hood, he takes from the poor and middle class and gives to the rich adding that he has the most important gift of a great con man, his marks have no idea that they're victims of a grift.

Yup, 80% of Walmart non-food merchandise is imported... I bet a lot of MAGA shops there ... probably think it's Biden's fault...

And yet not a single outlet considered part of the "mainstream liberal media" has agreed to settle a defamation lawsuit in an amount anywhere close to $787 million.

I guess you can point to the $16 million settlement by CBS/Paramount in Trump's lawsuit involving the editing of the 60 Minutes interview of Kamala Harris although that settlement would have probably never happened were itt not for Trump's implicit threat to use his DOJ to stop or impede the Skydance-Paramount merger.
