Yea I have to agree with him. It's that toughness that seperates the greats from the very good. Instead of I want to win...I have to win!

Insightful analysis here. Lots of respect for Emmitt Smith.

“The problem I’m having with football today is it’s been watered down and guys are getting away with mediocrity. Kids don’t know how to tackle. Kids don’t know how to work and the whole entire country has become ultra-sensitive. The whole entire country has accepted mediocrity. No-one is really striving to create the best in class standards for one another. To challenge each other to become the best that we can become. When we challenge people these days they all get offended because they’ve been challenged. They all think that someone is infringing upon their right, yet they want what the next person has but they’re not willing to go through what that person went through to get it. People are looking for shortcuts."

He’s 100% accurate but this is also what Saban doesn’t allow to happen.

He didn't just roast us; he roasted other teams, our society. Although he didn't say exactly these words, he roasted spoiled lazy, entitled kids.

He has a point - and not just about the Gators. . .

Always liked Emmitt's attitude and work ethic.

"...Florida did have several players hit the transfer portal in the middle of the season..."
We did? What did I miss?
Aside from that, it's a fair assessment. Maybe show the D a re-play of the BB game yesterday. THAT'S toughness.
And I totally agree with "I wish he was around more."

Opt outs are a flashing red light.
Winners don't quit on their team.
It's not an option for them.

I like Mullen's goal of recruiting winners. His teams have always been tough. Hopefully this year was an aberration.

    1) Can't disagree with him at all on this one.
    2) Would like to see him speak positively about the Florida Gators once in a while.

I agree with absolutely everything Emmitt said. Have felt this way for some time as this same thing has been said by many of the greats from the greats that I looked up to as a teen. It’s great to see someone of Emmitt’s stature now saying it.

Agree with everything Emmit said. I especially agree with this statement, "To challenge each other to become the best that we can become. When we challenge people these days they all get offended because they’ve been challenged. They all think that someone is infringing upon their right, yet they want what the next person has but they’re not willing to go through what that person went through to get it. People are looking for shortcuts." That’s exactly right. Kids are often told, “you can do anything you want to do.” We should say, “you can do anything you want to do, IF you’re willing to work for it and do what it takes to get there.” We don’t deserve anything. If you want something you have to earn it. That’s reality.

Saban also has the advantage of replacing someone with just another 4 or 5 star player that would start on other teams. Although I'd like to see it, I doubt many football coaches are willing to replace their starter to make a point.
