Way too sad....prayers for his family during this heartbreaking time.
Pneumonia should not kill a young healthy person. I know it can kill anyone but it is usually immunocompromised or elderly. Just makes it so much worse to me. So Damn sad
Oh my GOD... he was one of the most likable personalities on ESPN...
I'm actually crying as I type this...
Met him a time or two in Gainesville when he was a student. Always a good read. RIP
So very sad. RIP

heartbreaking. Ugh. What a shame. Pneumonia, ,at that age? Crazy. Lost another Gator. Rising star too. Hope his fiance and family have some peace -can't imagine their grief. Bummer...
im in my 30s and just caught it randomly this year. Almost killed me. Literally it’s terrible. No young man should have to go out that way. It’s so frustrating to think about.
Followed him his whole career. This is tragic. Condolences to his family and fiancé. :.(
Thanks man. It’s been a strange Christmas. Get goosebumps reading his timeline on Facebook with people posting on it saying RIP, prayers, etc., instead of happy birthday. I literally texted with him a little over a month ago and he was saying how missed Atlanta and wanted to get back to here from LA which is where ESPN moved him for an expanded national role.
Pneumonia is serious. A good friend of mine had it and did not take care of himself. He wound up in UAB and never recovered. Ironically, the year he died he made 28 million bucks and that was in 1999. Money can't save you. Take care of yourself.
Was stunned last night at the news. Always enjoyed reading his columns, takes and hearing his opinion. Seemed like a person at was a huge plus in life. So sad. Especially given the birthday, Christmas Eve and being engaged. He will certainly be missed.
I had pneumonia a decade ago and it laid the sh!t out of me for a week. A couple other buddies got it at the same time and one of them nearly died. We were all healthy as could be. I got the vaccine 2 yrs ago as I've developed some asthma in the last several years. I'd advocate the same for anyone with similar circumstances.
A genuine tragedy, RIP young soul.
Reading his last few tweets and looking at his IG was brutal.
Rex Grossman got it when he was with the Redskins

Very sad. Ed was very fair and extremely articulate. Go Bless his remaining family.
Crushingly sad story. Way too young. Perhaps a sign that the biotics are winning the ongoing war with antibiotics. Rest in peace, Ed.
Extremely sad story.
For anyone over 65, I would suggest getting the pneumonia vaccine. Should be covered by insurance/Medicare.
