Anything that starts with “everyone on the other side said …” is an unserious attempt at bashing, not discussion

    Meanwhile....

Layoffs From Trump Tariffs Ripple Across the Auto-Parts Industry

Tariff-related layoffs hit five US auto plants that supply factories in Canada and Mexico

And that is just one industry...

And expect the cost average cost of GE washers and dryers to increase by around $200. By the way we bought a GE washer made in Louisville over a year ago. We also paid through the nose. It was among the more expensive GE washers and didn't have a lot of bells and whistles. It was however commercial grade and did have a much longer warranty than most other GE washers.

We’ll see. Dear Leader has only been in office 5 months. imo still too early to see full impacts of his tariffs and wrecking much of the gov. Not to mention the BBB which will add to our deficit.

Uh oh....the OP's victory lap may have come just a little bit too soon....

Deep inside U.S. economy, more sticker prices start going up due to tariffs, and inventory is headed down

My daughter, who just started there in Cincinnati, is a little freaked out, as is—so she says—everyone she knows who works there. Apparently they are announcing more details in September

Proctor and Gamble just let go 250 people here in N Carolina, so at least 250 are in the United States.

Not "wild" speculation. A reasonable projection based on history. Let's not forget the impact of Trump's tariffs on washers and dryers in his first administration.
The Impact of U.S. Trade Policy on South Korea - Korea Economic Institute of America
For example, U.S. tariffs on washing machine imports in 2018 resulted in a 12 percent increase in the price of washing machines in the United States, with only a minimal impact on employment.

    https://pubs.aeaweb.org/doi/pdfplus/10.1257/aer.20190611
We estimate the price effect of US import restrictions on washers. The
2012 and 2016 antidumping duties against South Korea and China
were accompanied by downward or minor price movements along
with production relocation to other export platform countries. With

the 2018 tariffs, on nearly all source countries, the price of washers
increased nearly 12 percent. Interestingly, the price of dryers—not

subject to tariffs—increased by an equivalent amount. Factoring in
dryer prices and price increases by domestic brands, the 2018 tariffs
on washers imply a tariff elasticity of consumer prices of above one.
