wow that is pure craziness
Yep, they were playing like a "Thundering Herd" back down to their usual self... the 'smoldering turd'...
No, the Governor thinks he looks too much like Willie Nelson, a pot-smoking, long-haired degenerate. So he told Doc to get "on the road again."
This is hilarious, Marshall is FAU of West Virginia, they should move back to FCS if they want to win titles.
Rumor on the streets now is that he will be replaced by Wyatt Earp.
i should be able to mark this as funny.
Coached here? Not universally hated? Bring him back! We love to live in the past!
Does current Florida governor have any life long friends that happen to be good at coaching defense?
Coach of the year in conference. Not sure what happened here.
It’s really bizarre
One conference title in 11 years (2014). Thats what doomed Doc at Marshall. This decision wasn't Jim Justice's the Gov nor was it Mike Hamrick the AD. This decision was Dr Jerome Gilbert's decision the president of Marshall. Doc was given 3 goals this year:
1)Acceptable APR score (980)
2)Team GPA of 2.75 or higher (3.03)
3)Conference Title (CUSA Title Game UAB 22 Marshall 13)
After starting the season 7-0 and number 15 in the country, Marshall finished 7-3 and only scoring 23 points in the last 3 games.
Had Doc won the 2013 title game and the 2020 title game Marshall wouldn't be looking for a coach and Doc would probably be here at least until QB Grant Wells had graduated.
From what Ive read Brian Johnson might be on the 12 man committee who is in charge of finding candidates to replace Doc, maybe we could just do a trade instead.
Can we bring him in as an analyst?
We should hire him in some capacity
Like I said - Marshall needs to look in the mirror. Let’s fire a guy for losing in the conference title game during a pandemic season.
If there aren’t off the field issues, it’s uncalled for. Dude is 63 years old, had a good run there and would never leave for another gig. You can push him out “force retirment” at some point but it’s just a bad look for the program IMO.
I’m friends with a guy who played at Marshall (blocked for Byron). Want to know how many times I’ve heard him complain that they don’t win enough? Zero.
Heard his offensive coordinator is gonna be Billy the Kid.
Let's see how many conference titles they win in the next decade without him. If they do manage to do better, they can say goodbye to that coach the next season.
I like Doc, have known and talked to him many times and years before he took the Marshall job. Let's see Florida keep Dan Mullen for 11 years with just one title and see if your admin and fan base are happy, you know that would never happen to begin with. Even disappointed he knows exactly why his contract wasn't renewed.
And why is this a bad look, sorry you as I know college athletics is a business and not a road trip with friends.
