Jadan Baugh picks up his second preseason watch list nomination with being named to the Doalk Walker Award watch list. By: Kendall Merriett -- floridagators.com -- August 5, 2025 GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore running back Jadan Baugh has been named to the 2025 Doak Walker Award preseason watch list. Baugh is competing with 102 other athletes for the award, and is one of 31 sophomores to be on the watch list. The Doak Walker Award is presented to college football's most outstanding running back. The award was named after SMU's three-time All-American running back Doak Walker and was created back in 1989. The award not only recognizes players abilities on the field, but also their dedication to work within the community and the classroom. Jadan Baugh made history on the field during his freshman season, making him a prime candidate to be considered for this award. In his first year as a Gator, Baugh tied a program record of five rushing touchdowns in his first start and is the only Gator to accomplish this feat in his first career start. Baugh also made program history with fellow freshman DJ Lagway becoming the first true freshman running back and quarterback to start in the same game. Baugh became one of eight SEC players to have two 30-yard plus kick returns, marking him one of 11 freshman in the FBS to accomplish this feat. Off the field, Baugh was named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll and to the Freshman All-SEC team. The 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award are chosen by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum in November and the three finalists for the award are chosen by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee which is comprised of past award recipients, former NFL All-Pro and college All-American running backs, media members and a few selected special representatives. The finalists will be selected in early December with the winner being named live at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12, 2025.
