Was that RFN?
Muschamp will take offense to this. He most certainly had a UF offer. At Defensive End of course.
This was Spurrier's number. It was one of 2 retired numbers we had when SOS came in 1990.
Spurrier unretired it and then awarded it to some outstanding players.
Ben Hanks was one- not sure of the others.
IMO this is a great idea of Strange and I wish Mullen would adopt it- make our #11 like LSU's #18.
That would be cool.
A series of players who had to travel difficult paths to get to UF. Hanks was the first. Don't remember the others at this moment.
I didn’t know all that, that’s a pretty cool story.

FYI great scoop.
Reggie Nelson and Major Wright?
I don’t think either had number 11 though?
We probably need him on the basketball team.
I can’t remember their names, but didn’t we have two football signees on a Gainesville High state champ under SOS?
I think one was a DT, Ian Something, who played in the NFL for the Bears & the other was a CB, maybe Vernell Brown?
I talked to a retired HS BB coach & he said he is better off playing football exclusively
Ian Scott. That was his name, but don't know if he was a state champ or not.
Thanks for helping my eroding memory. I thought they won state, but could be wrong
They did win in 5A in 1999
Was Vernell Brown the PG on that team?
Willie Jackson was an excellent hoops player, even played one season at UF.
Tha you Mike?
No doubt, I was saying that facetiously.
Thad Bullard and O.J. Small were the other 2 after Hanks.
