With just baseball and track left to count. If track has a decent four days, and Duke and Arky don’t go completely crazy, it looks like the top 10 streak will survive. Duke losing last night in baseball really helped. Michigan didn’t make NCAAs in baseball so we are ahead of them right now. UVA didn’t either, and they aren’t great at track. We will net 37.5 points on them both for baseball. If all goes well we will pull 100 points in track and Arky can’t catch us. That would seal it. https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/...ments/2025/6/8/24.25DI_SpringOverall_6.10.pdf
Top 10 Streak = Yes. Top 5 Streak = No. Maybe the Gators will overperform in the Outdoor T&F Championships moving UF up the list. It just doesn't look like top 5 again is possible.
men down some this year, top 15 likely, women are sneaky good, top 5 at worst if all perform up to qualifying
T&F still going om? I thought we were done and resigned myself to watching the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup finals and the CWS. Still can’t sit through an MLB game unless live.
Scott Stricklin's mediocre leadership is allowing our slow slide from athletic elitism that Jeremy Foley established, IMO.
I think UF has been in the top 5 of the Director's Cup standings every year since Stricklin has been with UF until this year. That combined with a top 10 finish, final ranking TBD after Outdoor T&F, is not a slide into mediocrity. My only concern is how the football team performs in 2025 after finishing strong in 2024 after a vote of confidence for CBN by Stricklin. I didn't like CBN's hire, thought he was too conservative offensively to please UF fans, but now that returns are coming in, I'm okay so long as the football team starts making its way back to being elite. HC Todd Golden was a knock it out of the park hire, duh. HC Ryan Theis has the potential to be a CTG type of hire. I'm just not unhappy with Stricklin at this point. Let's revisit this again after football season. I want to see the vote of confidence payoff in results. It'll get interesting if CBN doesn't produce. However, the interesting will likely be for Napier, not Stricklin. I really don't see any new university president hire being in a rush to change out a UF AD who has been getting such good results in all sports.
SS has also overseen significant facility enhancements that have put UF back on an elite level in several areas. He has also retained the coaches that are key to success....only big loss was Shelton ( nothing you can do to retain a guy going to coach his son) and the recent retirement of Wise.
