Just wondering. I have been busy the last few weeks.
Oh, that one. I think the bill is long past overdue.
Yeah, you missed it. It was really cool when they handed the over-sized novelty check to us in that big ceremony. Everyone had a laugh over whether the amount on the check was in pesos or dollars. Then they opened up the White House for a Taco Bell feast. That was Trump's idea.
Oh well, what's another billion or so.
Yes. They faxed us a check.
I believe Trump said the money would come in as a result of the new trade deal and not that they would write a check.
By the way, has anyone asked why Pelosi and Shumer voted to spend money on a new wall before, but not now?
Really? Where did he say that during the campaign?
Yes, you certainly DID miss all the action.
Mexico decided they wanted to keep their bellies and their wallets fat.
So they sent 6000 troops to their own southern border to stop the flow.
Oh...and the wall?
It's being built little by little.
He has actually given every imaginable explanation on how it would be paid for. But he has specifically said that they should write a check, along with a 100 other ways.
The Many Ways Trump Has Said Mexico Will Pay for the Wall
Anyone who thinks Trump actually said Mexico will pay for the wall CLEARLY misunderstood the man.
No. I think they clearly heard and understood him and simply accepted it.
This from the pathological liar in chief.
Kind of went the way of his healthcare plan that "was going to be something terrific. It will cover everyone, be cheaper and even better than Obamacare".
And Mexico is paying for it via a gofundme account, apparently,
2016: The president is going to build a wall across the Mexican border and Mexico is going to pay for it! Why is anyone complaining, this is a no-brainer!
2019: OK, so Mexico isn't going to pay for it (except through super abstract magical accounting) and we're going to fund it directly and also it's like 1/100th of the border
This is why everyone said Trump was talking nonsense in 2016
There's a pattern there ...
2016: Trump says he will eliminate the national debt in eight years!
2019: Well ok, the debt has exploded, but
2016: Trump is going to eliminate Obamacare and replace with something great!
2019: Nobody knew healthcare was so hard, sooooo
2019: Trump calls Oakland mayor "a disgrace" for revealing impending ICE raids
2019: Trump reveals impending ICE raids
Trump called Oakland mayor a 'disgrace' for revealing ICE raids. Then he did the same thing.
We're also seeing a net outflow of Mexicans, as more are returning home than coming in. The majority of new entrants today are from C. America, where conditions have only gotten worse the past few years.
Overall, the number of illegals in the US has stablized recently. With 8 million of them in the workforce at time where there are over 7 million unfilled jobs, and only 6 million on unemployment, I'd say the illegal labor is much needed. Instead of building a wall to keep them out, why not increase the guest worker program that has the immigrants pay to let them in? Part of being allowed in legally would also include a vetting process to try and weed out those with criminal backgrounds or are deemed dangerous. Who cares if they are poor, largely uneducated, and don't speak much English. If they come here, find a job that nobody else if filling, and keep out of trouble, they are a net benefit, and should be welcomed.
