I know in the heat of the moment it's difficult to just walk away from a fight, but that's what you gotta do, Devin. Now you're out of a job.

Disappointing to be out late clubbing and get in fights. Teams want players that are doing the right things, exhibiting the right behaviors and representing the team well

I'm holding out hope that he broke a bone in his hand while knocking the dude out.

What a bonehead move. Hope he gets out of this unscathed (career-wise) and learns to never put himself in this position again. That's how quickly you can lose everything you've worked so hard for

There has gotta be a back story here. Other factors must be in play for the Wizards to cut ties with Devin so immediately, when other responses like suspension were available.

The article says he was cut from the Wizards - they wasted no time.

It sounds like he was going to get cut eventually even without the arrest. He’s the same player as always, unreal athleticism but not a good shooter. He shot like 30% from 3. He’s a bit old as a prospect at this point and Washington probably decided they’d take a chance on someone younger.

The “back story” is he was not playing that well. If the guy played like labron, we would hear about “self defense against a drunk” - and no suspension.

Agreed. It's all too easy to claim what an idiot DRob was (he was), but would Steph Curry, Harden, or Westbrook lose their job over a fight? DRob behaved poorly, but he didn't lose the gig due to this incident alone.

Well, no, Curry, Harden, or Westbrook wouldn't lose their jobs over a fistfight. Those guys are franchise players. But Devin isn't Curry, Harden, or Westbrook; he's a marginal NBA player. One slip and you're out the door.

I bet that when Curry, Harden, and Westbrook go to clubs they have people that keep them out of such situations. They make enough to afford that.

Do you think the Wizards fired DRob because he was in a fist fight?

Partly, but not entirely. I'm not in the front office so I'm not privy to their discussion. Just looking at it from the outside, DRob was a marginal NBA guy. Played in 7 games out of 82? The definition of marginal. He gets arrested, and bam, he's gone. He had no room for error and made an error.

Yep - which is pretty much the suggestion I was offering.
