More republican "local control" at work ... LOL. This is the Florida Republican backlash to a new Miami-Dade ordinance that requires employers to allow water and shade breaks for outside workers on extremely hot days. Republicans have now banned such ordinances.

“The intent of the bill is to ensure that employers have the ability to govern themselves and make sure they create the best working environment for their employees,” said bill sponsor Sen. Jay Trumbell (R-Panama City).

Sure ... leaving safety up to the employers always works out well... I mean, this local ordinance came about because employers were not giving outside workers breaks and there was an increase in heat related illness and death in southern Florida ...

I'll bet real money that these local citizen oversight boards were just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to weakening the police force like in California, and taking control of the police... away from the state. That sounds like a good advocacy group, but the devil is in the details, but the Pubs know all the Leftists' tricks.

We cannot have "COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS" controlling the police force.

“HB 601 invalidates the work local communities have put into attempting to increase trust between residents and law enforcement,” NR Hines, policy strategist at ACLU of Florida, said in a statement in February after the bill passed a house committee. “Having a community that feels empowered to hold law enforcement in their area accountable is better for all Floridians.”

A news release from the governor’s office said the purpose of the bill is to “prohibit localities from using political entities like Civilian Oversight Boards to drive an anti-police agenda.”

The bill was signed at a news conference on Friday morning. DeSantis framed the bill as protecting law enforcement officers, but the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida has criticized the bill as a waste of tax dollars and said it undermines democracy.

You are in the wrong thread. This thread is about woke county ordinances that allow outside workers water breaks on days when the fake news global warming kicks in.

“The ordinance …..in response to heat-related illnesses and deaths in industries such as construction and agriculture.

Currently, there are no federal or state laws ensuring protection from heat exposure for those working outdoors.

Rather than sign the bill at a press conference, as DeSantis usually does, the Florida governor opted to quietly sign the controversial bill and announce it during a Thursday night press release alongside nine other bills.”

An interesting story about how China handles the extreme heat issue for their outdoor workers. In China, outdoor manual work is supposed to stop at temperatures above 40 C (104 F), according to federal regulation. However, with global warming, more and more Chinese cities are hitting summertime temperatures in excess of 40 C, and that is affecting national productivity. When I was working in Ningbo (outside of Shanghai, a slightly north-of-central Chinese city on the coast), the summer highs would often get as high as 109 F (43 C), but the work would not stop. What the Chinese government would do is release temperature data that indicated that the official temperature was only 39 C, so people had to keep working. When the temperature would get ridiculously hot, like 112 F, they would tell the truth about the temperature. Everybody seemed to know that this was happening.

Don’t believe your lying eyes (or temperature gauges). Sounds exactly like something commies would do.
