    MIAMI (AP) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday he’s arranged to send drones, weapons, and ammunition to Israel as it prepares for an incursion of Gaza in response to Hamas’ attack. It’s the latest official response DeSantis has taken to back Israel as he competes in the 2024 Republican primary.

    Florida has sent cargo planes with healthcare supplies, drones, body armor, and helmets, said Jeremy Redfern, a spokesman for the governor’s office. The state also worked with groups to supply unspecified amounts of weapons and ammunition that were privately funded, Redfern said.

    DeSantis’ announcement led to confusion between the governor’s office and an Israeli diplomat in Florida. The governor’s office said it acted at the request of Israel’s consul general in Miami. But Maor Elbaz-Starinsky, the consul general, said he did not request drones, body armor, or helmets, nor had he talked to the governor about help getting weapons or ammunition through private parties.

    I thought only the fed could engage in international relations. Of course we should support Israel, but let the fed do it.

    This kind of thing is becoming more common it seems. Newsom is in china right now. As the federal government becomes weaker and broken , governors are gonna start doing their own foreign policy. It’s already happening with immigration.

    If he really cared, he'd offer to trade himself for hostages like the Jerusalem Patriarch. He could demonstrate real Christianity and improve the lives of those in Israel and in Florida.

    This seems very weird and also fraught with potential complication. So DeSantis sends weapons to Israel. Can the governor of Georgia send weapons to Palestine? Then can we just have the Florida-Georgia game battled out at the Gaza Strip?

    No I mean constitutional government in general. If the courts take out Chevron it will become even more pronounced. There are consequences to this state supremacy / disempowered fed philosophy at work.
