How much more will it cost for the ships to get from California to Florida? People are complaining about price increases of goods already. Do you think they'll stop complaining if prices of goods increase more?

Guessing that there is not a lot of excess capacity in the nation's 12th busiest cargo port.

Yeah, the Florida ports combine to handle about 3.1% of all imports. LA and Long Beach handle 32.5%. So, the scaling difference here is absurd. But, yeah, again, this was for an audience that wouldn't think too much about it.

Glad others said it. If there was all this excess capacity in Florida and it was cost effective, the businesses would be using it. As usual, DeSantis is pandering while assuming the worst about his base.

Is Mexico going to pay the costs to move the cargo from the west coast to Florida? ;)

In a statement from Port Tampa Bay they say:

"Port Tampa Bay is not seeing any congestion or delays that have been creating issues for the other ports. Our port stands ready to welcome new business and serve as a supply chain alternative and solution. Port Tampa Bay's container volume has increased by over 40% over the past 11 months, and our port has easily accommodated the growth to stay ahead of the curve thanks to our terminal build-out program. Port Tampa Bay is in discussions with container lines about expanding their services to serve our growing market which includes distribution centers along the I-4 corridor."

Not all ships will fit through the canal and there’s a difference between going to Tampa and going to Jax, adds two more days. Still doesn’t solve the problem of truck drivers and crane operators.

Im a fan of using the National Guard to drive trucks. There has to be enough heavy equipment/truck drivers in those ranks.

the delays on anchor are the only thing that would make it cost effective

Really? This is from February 2019.

And this is from May 2019.
What is Causing the Truck Driver Shortage and How Can We Fix It
And this is from July 2019.
Truck driver shortage reaches highest level ever

The shortage of truck drivers was a problem at least a year before the Covid crisis although the reopening of the economy made it worse.

He never said all ships would fit through but at least he’s offering solutions instead of just opposing what he says because of partisanship.

Tampa Bay is a tiny port. It has 2 container berths. New Orleans has 8 purely container berths, and isn't even that big of a container port. Savannah has 14. Los Angeles has 31.

Offering solutions? Bro, c'mon. Do you really think these very wealthy corporations run by very smart people aren't capable of figuring out what ports are viable alternatives?
