Wanting to be able to pick winners and loses? Smells like fascism.
He's fun, isn't he?
He’s an idiot but most presidents say shit like this. Obama complained it was a shame he only got two turns. I’m sure he others have said this shit privately. Power is intoxicating.
I really don't know what he's talking about when he says he built an economy. He keeps perpetuating this myth that he did anything to create it. All he's done is roll back important environmental standards to allow corporations to do whatever they want in the name of creating jobs that "Obama never did because of his policies," and yet....
Most jobs created from 2011-2019 (most to least):
2014 Obama - 3 million jobs
2015 Obama - 2.7m
2016 Obama - 2.35m
2018 Trump - 2.31m
2013 Obama - 2.3m
2012 Obama - 2.17m
2017 Trump - 2.11m
2019 Trump - 2.09m
2012 Obama - 2.07m
Obama has 5 of the top 6 spots, what leg does Trump have to stand on to say he'll "build another" economy. He hasn't even built one yet.
Did he *complain?* I don't recall that.
Um when the bar is as low as it was when Obama took office, that really isn't saying much. Interesting how you left off 2009, 2010, and 2011. 2012 through to 2017 was all due to QE and the economic steroids it injected not anything Obama did.
From thinking about the Great Recession and this Pandemic, maybe we should have let the chips fall back then because really the idiots that created the Great Recession should have collapsed instead of being here today stealing more money from small businesses. If we had done that and not used QE, we would be looking at maybe $12T in debt in which maybe the increased debt to save the economy would be easier to deal with.
Somewhat similar with GDP growth:
2018 T 2.88%
2010 O 2.56%
2015 O 2.55%
2014 O 2.40%
2019 T 2.30%
2012 O 2.25%
2017 T 2.20%
But to be fair, Obama was under 2% in 2011, 2013 and 2016.
But it’s not like T is ripping the cover off the ball on gdp growth.
Average under Obama 2.1%
Average under Trump. 2.4%
I bet he honestly feels that his performance warrants retention and the election should be cancelled. Totally detached from reality and nobody telling him anything he doesn't want to hear.
Will the pub senate tell him he can't cancel the election if he tries?
Who here in the Trump camp would no longer support T if he tried to cancel the election?
And the economic growth/improvement that occurred from 2017 to 2020 wasn't anything Trump did. But Trump is totally responsible for the economy's struggles in 2020. Am I doing it right?
And in 2020 Trump will be the first president since George W. Bush in 2008 to experience negative job growth. Not his fault but since he has been taking credit for a trend than began seven years before he took office maybe it would be poetic justice if he received at least some of the blame.
Trump is probably negative now for his term but we won't know for sure until next month's job report. He was +6.7 million through February but with 10 million job losses the last 3 weeks he's almost certainly in the hole.
For the life of me, I cannot recall grown-ass man in the public eye whine this much. It's frankly embarrassing.
Ok the word complain wasn’t fair. He remarked something to the tune of - it’s a shame I only get two terms - he was just one I remembered.
My overall point was that power is intoxicating. The best of men buckle under it to a degree. The worst of men cancel elections, rule with an iron thumb, and deport or systematically execute their rivals.
2014 is when QE ended.
What was the average for just Obama's second term?
So Y'all go ahead and elect Biden, he never misspeaks.
Bet your stock in coronatrumpus vaccine he seriously suggests no election in November.
Power certainly is; Also corrupting...absolutely or some such. I responded because I had remembered a few times Obama mentioned such a thing and once was in jest, the other, a response to a question, though neither indicated actually wanting a third term (I'm sure somewhere deep down he probably wanted and would have run if permitted).
Really pathetic to see Obama preside over a recovery like we had and it be diminished so cavalierly.
Interesting how I "left it off" because it didn't matter. We are talking about building an economy like Trump said. You don't build an economy in the middle of a recession, Trump knows that now. I didn't include the millions we just lost. Your point is moot.
But to your point about steroids being injected, then you will definitley give Trump zero credit for any bump we get because of the steroids injected.
Good to know.
