I'd say the RBs were THE bright spot. AR needs to learn more and how to play and stay healthy.

    Well, let's see...

    UF Recruiting Rankings:
    2021 12th - One 5-Star and TWELVE 4-Stars
    2020 9th - ONE 5-Star and SIXTEEN 4-Stars
    2019 9th - THIRTEEN 4-Stars
    2018 14th - THIRTEEN 4-Stars

That makes 56 horribly coached-up and unmotivated players rated a 4 or higher getting beat by TWO 4-star players plus a bunch of scrappy, coached-up, and motivated 3-Stars.

3 > 4 at least for 1 particularly chilly evening in Tampa. Let's hope it's just a Halley's Comet moment in the future of the program.

agree on Torrence, Hopper and Dexter. Torrence is going to be extremely good. Hopper looked really good last night when I was able to watch. Looked like someone playing to try and impress.

Firing coaches mid-season may have made some fans feel better but I think it's obvious it didn't sit well with the team, regardless of any culture of indisipline. This program fires too many coaches mid-season and it always leaves the team rudderless.

    Ooooorrrrr...

The bad coaching, rudderless as you put it, began some months ago, and that's why we had to make the change.

Have we escorted the dufus interim HC and his band of football-dwarfs out of gainesville yet? Our fans should line the streets flipping them off on their way out of town. We can call it the anti-Gator walk.

Have not read previous comments so maybe covering old ground here-- but who in hell was calling the Offense last night? The run is working and you start passing with EJ ? Whomever that person is, I hope he is cleaning out his office this morning. Plus- Knox with head spinning decisions- twice sending Howard out to attempt long FGs on 4th and less than 10. Stunning.
And then of course there is EJ- well what can you say that hasn't been said - he may be a fine young man but cannot play at a Power 5 level- or was it all the lack of player development by 'the Whisperer'-- he was a 4 star recruit afterall. I wish EJ well at a non-Power 5 school next year. Now looking to next year? Who will be under center? And why did Del Rio and Kitna not take one snap?

It's inexplicable. Takeaway one: This is a truly poor staff and does not understand the game of football- how to win. Takeaway two: They knew exactly what they were doing and intended to let their team suffer a loss.

EJ was his usual less than 50%, 14 of 36. They could not stop the run according to the stats but the staff kept passing. It wasn't that when completed we didn't get some yards, it's that there were far more incompletes.

Did you once see Knox talking to his assistant coaches? He was silent. What a total fool.

I think Dexter can have a big future, but I can't make best SEC type of claims just yet. We both agree though that he is a good one.

Sure you can say Cox was inconsistent but so was everyone. Fact is he created more havoc than anyone on defense. If he really is coming back that will be big time for us. Double digit sack guy.

I disagree completely on Torrence. I used to think he was going to be someone who challenges for All SEC as a junior, but he had a HORRIBLE close to the season. I mean he was flat out awful. Maybe new coaching staff/scheme helps him rebound. He has ability but damn that looked ugly down the stretch.

I don't doubt AR15's game, though he doesn't have enough tape to justify some of the transcendent talk on here, I doubt his health. I lost count, was he hurt 5 times this year? He gets hurt scoring TD's untouched. He gets in one play against the Noles and gets hurt. Hell he hurts himself dancing. That's just to name a few of the injuries. You get the made of glass tag for this kind of stuff. Now we got this Miller kid from Ohio St coming in. I saw him in their spring game..and honestly he didn't look nearly as good as their other kids. Probably not better than AR15 either. But guess what, you miss time in the spring, you miss time in the fall and now you open the window for this kid to come in and win the job. I hope AR isn't thinking he can miss 75% of the offseason with a new coaching staff and show up against Utah "I'm ready to start coach." That would not be in his best interest. So I'm hoping for a clean offseason for him, a lot of practice reps, and then goes into 2022 season ready to ball out.

I believe the first play after her statement was a 1 yard run. But yeah all pass plays after that. I said it during the game. DP with 30 carries and 200 yards rushing (I believe would happened) is the way we win that game. Maybe the coaches wanted to let EJ get one more chance to show all the FCS coaches watching what he can do?

    Solid thoughts.
With AR, I blame our staff for not fixing a knee injury that he’s had since his junior year of high school I believe. That one really bothers me.
I forgot #52 Powell. I think he has a bright future.
Cox- maybe he was hurt at times this year but he took way too many plays off and sometimes look like he was not even pursuing. I think the new mindset that a new staff brings and will do him wonders as he certainly has big-time potential.
Dexter had 9 tackles last night. That’s ridiculous coming from a DT. Can’t remember the last time I saw a DT, and even a great one, have more than six or seven tackles in a game. The kid that he did that against last night, Schneider, Will be playing on Sundays.

back to mindset and mentality of a program. Napier will change things with regards to pregame routines, night before routines, etc. etc. this will benefit AR more than anybody. I still like the fact that he came in against Florida State and did not try to do too much and managed the game. Without him we would have lost and I think Napier will take this kid to a very high-level. I am happy we have Jack Miller because I think he will be more than adequate if they are Injury issues.

Torrence had Some major high spots this year. At least he had a couple of interceptions and actually recovered a fumble. With different coaching he could be a star.

We establish the running game. Big bruisers not just sprinters. We mirror traditional Big 10 football. Recruit 5 star offensive linemen. Top 4 stars if we have to. Let FSU and Miami fight over the usual 3 star crop of o line we typically try to mine for the diamond in the rough (and have failed for 6 years or so).

That's the future. Not as sexy or mind boggling as fun 'n gun, but I got news for you, we haven't got that either right now. Got to rebuild from the ground game up.

Agreed. I was thinking more along the lines of how much attention a substitute teacher usually garners.

One other note about Cox- Keep in mind I think he’s a double digit sack guy next year but….he’s got to learn about containment and setting the edge. He gets us in big trouble on reverses and he plays most plays like they are a pass as he pushes hard upfield allowing for monster holes on his side. He becomes a consistent 3 down player look out.

In the first half the raw talent of our defense showed.

In the second half the late night partying of that D showed.
