He was born to a mother who illegally worked on a tourist visa, and should have been deported because of it.

There are many stickler-for-the-rules MAGA supporters who would maintain that that would make him not a citizen and deserving to be deported. Why they're even here in this thread!

I did not post earlier as I did not have the time. But this gets at my exact thoughts.

Why did they not call and reschedule? How are they running a legit business being illegal with deportation issues for 20 years and paying taxes properly for themselves and their employees?

We don’t know the facts. But…

Apopka man detained at ICE appointment, despite approval for crime-victim visa

Beverly Juarez said her mother and father haven't been hiding -- they've been meeting with ICE officials since 2010.

She said they have complied with everything.

"And up until this day, we are still in compliance," she said. "And so I'm hoping that, you know, someone in authority has to see the injustice happening, because my father is not a criminal and my mom ... is not either."

Actually, her dad was a victim of violent crime at his company's work yard in Apopka in 2021. So last year, ICE gave him and his wife its initial stamp of approval for a U visa, which is for immigrant victims of crime who are cooperating with law enforcement.

But the U visa is pending -- it can take years -- and hasn't been issued yet

    Okay?

For 20 years they could not get their deportation figured out? And while not being able to figure that out they are running a legal business and paying taxes?

Not saying that is the case. Just saying this article does not seem right with the heart strings it appears to be attempting to pull.

Had previous administrations actually had the balls to follow our immigration laws, we would not find ourselves in this situation. All the wailing and gnashing of teeth mean little. They came here illegally and had 20 years to fix it and CHOSE not to. You take the risk and lose this is what happens.

    I read the article.
they originally came here ILLEGALLY. Not sure how they were able to get a work permit, but they did get one. Does not change the fact that 1 they came here ILLEGALLY and 2- had 20 years to apply for citizenship and from everything I have read did not do so.

Then you would know that a U Visa allows a person to work

Don't be too critical of Donald Trump’s total failure on immigration during his first term. To be honest, his poor performance was very similar to everyone we've had since Reagan.

If you want someone to ridicule, how about the voters who think Trump has any kind of long-term plan to solve this issue. Imagine believing that! :)

(At least he got them to stop eating the dogs, I think. )

It is stating they have been working with ICE on their status and had a particular VISA pending which for some reason takes years for the government to process. Not that they have been “slacking for 20 years”.

Demonizing a working family for no reason just to boost deportation stats. That’s what’s going on. And you all buy it

Need to work on reading comprehension skills. They have a U Visa pending with the government which somehow takes years to process. Maybe if immigration processes would be fixed, there could be actual progress. Instead, red hats just want to hurt our economy by deporting hard working people. Don’t want to actually solve problems. You just want to point and laugh at people with different skin color

Ironic that the red hats claimed to want efficient government but don’t realize the immigration process is like the super DMV which has caused the issue in the first place.

does this sound like 20 years to you?

so he was here for 15 years illegally and then was supposedly being given a U Visa and how could he have been given something that has not been issued 4 years later
