That's not smoke. That's just a coach saying the obvious, which is that he's open to considering anything.

I honestly don't think Mullen's style or system is a good fit for the NFL. I suspect he pretty much knows that.

I appreciate a coach that doesn't feel it necessary to always lie and deny the obvious.

It's a little more than clickbait...its negotiating leverage for Mullen's agent.

But I'm not losing sleep over it.

Winning coaches are like hot girlfriends. Somebody wants to take them away from you. If they want to leave, they are going to. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Of course he'd consider it. I too consider any good job opportunities that come my way as does any prudent professional. Doesn't mean you take every job that pops up, but every opportunity deserves a bit of thought.

This only helps recruiting if he stays.

Sure, but saying it publicly may hurt recruiting, doesn't it? I doubt Mullen goes public like this unless he is serious about it.

Absolutely, I am willing to bet Slim Slanderman spit his coffee out when Mullen said that.

I think a lot of people on this forum attach far too much importance to every little thing that happens and imagine it will impact recruiting to some horrible extent. Every successful coach is a question mark as to where they will be the next season. While a few kids probably choose a school for a head coach, most pick schools for a very wide variety of reasons all bundled into one.

I welcome the click bait. When recruits see this why wouldn't they want to play for a coach who has smoke coming from the NFL? Good things coming to gator nation.

Dan's not going anywhere. Can someone please go start the same type of far-fetched conjectural thread for Kirby at a Georgia site five days before ESD?

Well then, Urban's available if he goes. But it's not going to happen.

I have one even better, start on saying Saban is retiring and Kirby is the next guy

Yes, he's serious about "probably considering it."

This. Kirby has more juice right now than Mullen, seems more like an NFL guy, runs an NFL offense, etc. Mullen runs a spread with a willing runner QB. That shit won't fly in the NFL.

Baltimore and KC are one hit from being 4-12 teams. As much as I admire LJ and PM, one good shot from an NFL LB and its season over. PM landed funny on his knee trying to sneak it and was out 3-4 weeks.

Dan's a genuine person. He's not going to outright lie like Nick Saban did to LSU. If he took the Cowboys job, that'd be a pay raise by at least $3-4M annually, not to mention coaching on a more even playing field (you don't have to face teams that are loaded with 5* talent vs your 4* talent) and less work/travel in the offseason. He's already provided UF with more than almost any coach could've. We should respect his decision if that's what he wanted.
