One would have to think that if Mullen re-signs Grantham and does not give AR significant playing time the rest of this year, he will be on a white hot seat , maybe one of the hottest around.

Hope that Mullen gets that the status quo will not be tenable.

Is his self awareness that bad?

    Maybe it’s both quarterbacks.

That would qualify as decimated, wouldn’t it?

If AR doesn’t get significant playing time, he will most likely be in the portal. That’s just the way it will be. If Dan continues to stick with EJ and EJ comes back next year, AR will be in the portal. He is too good to play this wait your turn BS that Mullen is trying to do. That only works when the starter looks at minimum equal to the backup.

AR is too good to spend any time on the bench next year, or even this year for that matter. Screw this trust Mullen BS. He definitely needs to reevaluate how he determines playing time and understand that practice is not the same as a game, especially at the QB position.

Where was the proof he was looking for an NFL job last year?

I mean, other than in the eyes of those who would like to see him gone?

Why not start a rumor about Kirby Smart wanting to go to the NFL?

No way AR would stay if he doesn't get the start by year end. No way! too many programs would kill to get him. Clemson would be one of them despite Dabo absolutely hates the portal.

Reports say that AR > EJ in practice.

It comes down to the seniority system or some promise he made to EJ.

With the season shot it's about building for the future and trying to save recruiting.
AR is obviously the future, and present. It's possible the Georgia defense might be the best one he faces his college career. What better way to access him and build him a plan going forward on what he needs to work on. With young guys who've had a lot of athletic success sometimes its hard finding true teaching moments.
There is nothing like some adversity or failure to hone their focus in the off-season.

Well, Kirby is obviously not looking for a way out. As far as Mullen to the NFL, I can't say why there was a buzz. These things are done behind the scenes until there's reasonable cause for the public to be aware, unless there is a legit leak. But NFL team attorneys and agents are usually very discreet I would think.

The one thing I would say that suggests Administration thought Mullen to the NFL might be credible and that they were not prepared to hire a new HC is the salary increase and buyout term, which I believe is $12 million. There was absolutely no reason to increase Mullen's pay unless he and or his agent had leverage. Michigan, likely due to revenue shortfalls and financial restraints, negotiated Hairball from $7 million to $4 million. UF could have done the same. I could see an administration unprepared to conduct a search, or having already made considerations about a next coach, and knowing they don't have a candidate, deciding the revenue loss from a bad hire would be a disaster and ponying up more than they needed to. I know, it's conjecture on my part. But it's not out of the realm at all. Why did they give the guy an increase after a down year, his demeanor, and staff issues? I think we got played, but what do I know. At this point, with the other issues coming to light about our AD, would that be so surprising?

UF does seem to give pay raises for football coaches for no apparent reason.
