Stingley was injured in a preseason game in 1978. I'm pretty sure they didn't know the absolute extent of his injury quickly enough to make that kind of a judgement.

Things have changed quite a bit since then and Hamlin's situation was dire almost instantly.

The point is we dont knownhow he is.

18 year old Soldiers have been dealing with this the last 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some less than a year from HS graduation. Seeing the buddy blown to shit and still keep driving on. No one on either team or even in that stadium is going to impact his health one way or another.

A football game is optional compared to combat. All this screaming and demanding to cancel the game is over the top.

Why? Because I don't agree with you? That would like to wait and see how the young man is doing before acting prematurely?

I am not a cred chaser seeking validation from a message board.

Where did I day or imply it was "no big deal" cred chaser??

Does it make you feel superior to scream cancel the game and act all indignant wen someone suggests let's wait a bit and see how the man is doing?

I think what happened tonight really brings home what happened to Keyontae Johnson and how that situation was totally mishandled.

You don't go to the kids, who are upset and traumatized, and ask them if they want to play.

    You postpone the game.

I think everyone should should just move on and ignore this bonehead moving forward. Don’t know his angle or why he/she is so entrenched on this position but it is disgusting.

What’s a cred chaser? Someone with empathy? Douches gonna douche.

Edit-all playing tonight would have done was put other players health at risk. They were done. No need to risk more injuries. And then what do you do if the kid dies midway in the 3d quarter? Ridiculous notion.

I worked at a place where a coworker died of natural causes on the job.

We closed for the day. Pretty sure, we may have closed the following day as well.

It's just respect and compassion for their family and the workers.

Terrible situation, prayers up for this young man. A dumb football game certainly comes second in dire situations like this.

A bit surreal watching it play out live. Reminded me of Hank Gathers or Christian Eriksen in the Euros last year. You just never know. I hope he pulls through. With Eriksen, they got his heart started after about 3 minutes. This seemed a lot longer.

I am not your son. Its a message board. Pekple having a different opinion arent assholes, douches, lacking in empathy, or should just stfu like some have suggested.

Suggesting the team wait a little bit to get a better prognosis on the young man before jumping g the gun is not unreasonable, which is exactly what the NFL and Players Assn did. Maybe they know something we dont.

So you can take your own advice, simmer down yourself, and get off my case.

Would never diagnose someone without knowing the facts but if I had to guess then one possible cause would be commotio cordis. Again, there are other things that could cause sudden arrest but it doesn't have to be a hard hit which seems to be what people say when they hear commotio cordis mentioned.

So now I am a douche. Please point out to where I said anything about continuing playing immediately after the driver put the amblance in gear. Several in here were screaming to cancel it right after he was transported from the field.

I stated to wait until there was more information on the well being of the young man before canceling the game, not to immediately resume play. When the teams went to the locker room, I told the room didn't think the young man was alive and posted such on page 1. Obviously if the man had passed, they weren't going to play this game tonight.

Perhaps you should more caefully what i posted before responding and calling me a douche.
